Junior Auxiliary of Assistance League Holds Meet, Elects Heads A new women's service club is officially on the Anaheim map. Last Monday evening, the first meeting of the Junior Auxiliary of the Anaheim Assistance League was held in the home of Mrs. Harry Nutt, 904 W. Broadway. Officers were elected and other organizational details attended to. Heading the new group is Miss Margaret Ganahl of 501 N. Clementine St. Her cabinet includes Mrs. Howard Loudon, first vice-president; Mrs. Jay L. Reed, second vice-president; Mrs. R. Kenton Wines, third vice-president; 4-H Tractor Maintenance Program Set Planning this year's 4-H Club Tractor Maintenance program for Orange County 4-H boys and girls, was the topic for discussion at a recent meeting of 4-H leaders, farm implement dealer, Farm Bureau, General Petroleum, and Agricultural Extension Service representatives, states University of California Farm Advisor, W. A. Humphrey. Attending the meeting, to assist with the planning were—Carl Korn, president, Orange County Council and 4-H leader, Anaheim; Allen Carson, 4-H leader, Orange; Kenneth Casper, Santa Ana; Don Kenneth Casper, president, Orange County Farm Bureau; L. S. Hoffman, Shepherd Tractor Company, Santa Ana; Don Schneider, Schneider Tractor Company, MISS MARGARET GANAHL (Heads New Club) Mrs. Harry Pearson, recording secretary; Mrs. Joseph C. Truxaw, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Arthur H. Shipkey, treasurer; Mrs. Stanley Loudon, publicity; and Mrs. Russell H. Hess, parliamentarian. The slate of officers was elected by unanimous ballot following its nomination by a committee composed of Mrs. Frederick Rusch, Mrs. Fleming Nielsen, Mrs. Kenneth Lae, Mrs. Norbert T. Elmers and Mrs. Jack Suiter. A committee to draw up a first sample of by-laws was named and included Mrs. Frederick Rusch, Mrs. William R. Sulter and Mrs. John Ganahl. Meetings are to be held the third Monday of each month. Vierra-Brown Wedding Held October 27 Tuesday, Oct. 27, was the wedding day of Miss Joan Marie Vierra of 10072 Brookhurst rd. and Charles Eugene Brown of Whittier. They were married in simple ceremonies performed at Grace Lutheran church by Rev. H. F. Stief. A small group of relatives and close friends gathered in the sanctuary at 11 o'clock and witnessed the bride repeat her vows attired in a fall suit of bright watermelon hue accented by black. She wore a corsage of white orchids. After the nuptial rites, the wedding party went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Haskins-of La Habra where a reception was held. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Vierra and is a graduate of AUHS. Her bridegroom's parents reside in Missouri while he operates the Brown and Haskins Shell Service station here in town. After a honeymoon spent in Carmel, the new Mr. and Mrs. Brown are making their home in Whittier. REHEARSAL Mrs. Clifford Ouaid, manager of the Savanna Mothersingers, announces their leader, Mrs. Bessie Gray of Arnaheim, has just returned from a trip to Denver and will hold the first rehearsal today (Nov. 5) in the Savanna Auditorium. All mothers interested are urged to attend. Festival Singers Relate American Heritage Story at Ebell Meeting The story of the American heritage was beautifully told in song when the Festival Singers entertained the ladies of the American Ebell Society on Monday afternoon. The program was arranged by Mrs. George La Follette. Favorites of the past were included as well as a medley of hit tunes from "Oklahoma" and "Carrousel." The well known mixed concert quartet were accompanied by pianist Raymond McFeeters and their clever costuming accented the Thanksgiving theme. The meeting began with a 12:30 lunchon arranged by chairmen Mrs. Russell Reiner and Mrs. Marcus South. The tables were decorated with chrysanthemums from Mrs. C. C. Reinert's garden. Co-chairman of the decorating committee was Mrs. Chester Shirk. The following new members were introduced by membership chairman, Mrs. Fred L Lee M. Shaw, Paul Strin Rudisalle, Allen Koch, Sligh and R. E. Rodge. WITH THE 3RD INFANTRY DIV. IN KOREA—Pvt. Edwin K. Taylor, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Taylor, 512'E. Chartres st., Anaheim, Calif., recently joined the 3rd Infantry Division in Korea. Known as the "Rock of the Marne" division since World War I, the 3rd Infantry participated in many battles of the Korean conflict. Outstanding among these was the fighting for "Outpost Harry," "Jackson Heights" and "Kelly Hill." Taylor, formerly employed by the Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, entered the Army in March and completed basic training; at Camp Roberts, Calif. He is a 1951 graduate of Anaheim High school. The Presbyterian Flower Mission meets today, (Thurs. Nov. 5) at the home of Mrs. Emma Karlen, 502 North Lemon. BPW's Enjoy Party In Costumes A Hallowe'en costume party was enjoyed by members of the Business and Professional Women's club when they met last Wednesday night at the Optimist club house. First prize winners for the best costumes were Mamie Lane and Jean Pullen who depicted a colored dance team; Eleanor Bradley as "Shipwreck Sally" won second prize; third prize was awarded Florence Davis for her costume in 3 dimensions. Over cider and doughnuts provided by social chairman Lydia Denny and her committee, plans were made for a joint meeting with Anaheim Altrusa club November 19.
