wishes from three hundred friends and relatives on Sunday afternoon in a post-nuptial reception held in the gardens of Capilla de San Antonio.
The popular local couple were married on August 31 in the Mormon Temple, Salt Lake City. The bride is the former Teddy Lou Payne, daughter of Mr. and M.s. Ted Payne, 419 S. Indiana st. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey L. Calaway of West Anaheim.
The bride was radiant as she stood in the receiving line with her husband her parents and her husband's parents. She wore her lovely wedding gown of imported Chantilly lace over satin. The gown was fashioned with a snug fitting bodice and very full skirt, with a slight train effect.
The long sleeves were pointed at the wrist and the high neckline was edged with a tiny Peter Pan collar. The bride's dark hair was adorned with a tiny cap which caught a fingertip veil, and she carried a nosegay of pale pink carnations.
An exquisite four tiered pedestal wedding cake decorated with wedding bells was cut by the newlyweds. Mrs. Burt Richardson and Mrs. Jerry Streeter, close friends of the bride from college days, assisted with serving. Mrs. David Walkley whose friendship with the bride dates back to high school days took charge of the guest book. At the gift table was Mrs. Nan Moore who has been closely associated with the bride

WCTU Hears Talk By EUB Minister
When a meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held recently, at the home of Mrs. Blanuche Fendley, 529 S. Los Angeles st., the Rev. Alexander McCandless, new pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren church, was guest speaker.
Echoing the group's sentiment toward temperance in all things, he deplored figures based on a survey of 21 colleges which show that 75 per cent of men students and 56 per cent of women students are drinkers, and government figures that place the number of alcoholics in this country at 3,000,000. The problems caused locally by drinkers and drunk drivers will be on the increase, he said, because of the steady influx of newcomers.
Mrs. Cora Marsh, club president, presided at the meeting which was begun by a devotional on hope by Mrs. Fendley.
During the social hour, several of the ladies assisted Mrs. Fendley in serving tea and cookies.
Wagners in Hurried Trip to Illinois
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Wagner of 555 S. Citron st. made a hurried trip to Monmouth, Ill., on Oct. 6 to be with Mrs. Wagner's sister who underwent major surgery on Tuesday. According to a wire received on Tuesday evening by an aunt, Mrs. Zaida Mercer of Los Angeles, who is staying at the Wagner home, the operation was successful and the patient is resting comfortably.
