Color Films, Slides to Accompany Lecture on India at Forum Tonight A graphic picture of democracy in action in India and the recent beauties of the Vale of Kashmir will be the topic dealt with by John A. Bannigan, of 311 Marwood ave., Fullerton, in the fifth lecture of the Summer Forum series at the Fullerton Union High school auditorium at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 23. With color movies and slides the first general elections in India, held in 1951-52, in which almost 100 million people took part, will be explained to the Fullerton audience from first-hand study and observation. Bannigan, now a reporter-photographer with the News-Tribune, spent 6 months living and traveling in India with his wife, studying at the Delhi University and collecting data for his M.A. thesis in political science. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas and originally from Brooklyn, New York. The movies and slides were taken as the couple traveled from Bombay to Delhi, the capital, then to Sringagar, capital of Kashmir (a war zone between India and Pakistan, where the U.N. has been enforcing a truce for five years), and finally in the villages near Allahabad. In addition to the documentary parts of the Indian elections, the wonders of that mysterious and fascinating land, such as fabulous Taj Mahal, Garden of Shahi mar, the floating gardens of Kashmir, the Himalaya Mountains; and many famous landmarks of past civilizations, are shown in the film. Visiting Pastor Supplying at St. Michael's Church During the vacation of the Rev. John K. Saville, rector of St. Michael's Episcopal church, the pulpit will be occupied by the Rev. John Donaldson of Morenci, Arizona. The Rev. Donaldson and his family are living at the rectory, 726 N. Zeyn st. He has served the Arizona parish for three years, moving there from London, Ontario. In addition to the documentary parts of the Indian elections, the wonders of that mysterious and fascinating land, such as fabulous Taj Mahal, Garden of Shahi mar, the floating gardens of Kashmir, the Himalaya Mountains, and many famous landmarks of past civilizations, are shown in the film. The people of India, their dress, customs, handicrafts and daily life in the cities and the villages make up a large portion of the pictures. The lectures are free and open to the public. Power in Truth Pointed Out in Lesson-Sermon "Thou art the God of my strength... O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me." These words of the Psalmist (43:23) are the Golden Text of the Sunday Lesson - Sermon on "Truth" in all Christian Science churches. How the understanding of God as Truth illumines thought, regenerates and heals is pointed out in the Lesson-Sermon. A passage from John's Gospel (1:14,17) says, "And the Word of God was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we benecid his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth... For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Ecker Eddy writes, "Christ, Truth, was demonstrated through Jesus to prove the power of Spirit over the flesh—to show that Truth is made manifest by its effects upon the human mind and body, healing sickness and destroying sin" (p. 316).
