schools in Drive against Accidents to Kids in Home
Today the home accident is the latest single cause of death among children between the ages one and 15 years. To help combat this problem the Anaheim City schools last Monday and Tuesday, in each of the grades, carried on special instructions designed to help each child become aware of the many possible hazards around his home and neighborhood, and the way in which these hazards may be avoided.
With summer vacation starting on June 12, children will be spending such a large amount of time at home the possibilities of home accidents are bound to increase.
As a practical means for meeting the problem of accidents in the home each child was given a check list of possible home hazards on Tuesday, and asked to check their occurrence in his home. Parents were asked to join in this program by helping their children search for possible conditions in the home which may lead to accidents and see that they are corrected.
