Anahiem High School Juniors Honor Graduates With Annual Junior-Senior Prom in HS Patio The music is over but the melody of a gala prom lingers in the memory of some 300 young couples who enjoyed the festivities at the high school on Saturday night when the junior class honored the seniors with a farewell dance prefaced by a buffet tipper on the flower decked patio. Soft light from multi-colored oriental lanterns dimly outlined the dancers as they swayed to the rhythms of the Hill Toppers of Cal Poly in a fantasy "Land of the Setting Sun." The oriental garden illusion was created by a series of Diane Grue-nemay's and Charlyn Schmid's original hand painted murals each of which measured 15 x 20 feet and depicted dragons amid colorful western foliage. A true Chinese pagoda concealed the bandstand while a picturesque miniature bridge claimed the center of the dance floor. Formal Gowns The coronation influenor notably lacking as the Clan Connies gathered in the evening hours at the buffet. Pastel off-the-shoulder gowns contrasted beautiful white coats and black t-shirts decorations ran more in ribbons than to glittering nets. The prom-goers ate by light in the out of doors in 50 Japanese lanterns and SPECIAL ... McCOY DRUG CENTER and LOS ANGELES STS. — ANAHEIM — For Graduates in HS Patio Formal Gowns The coronation influence was notably lacking as the Clems and Connies gathered in the early evening hours at the buffet table. Pastel off-the-shoulder formal gowns contrasted beautifully with white coats and black ties, and hair decorations ran more to satin ribbons than to glittering coroets. The prom-goers ate by candlelight in the out of doors beneath 10 Japanese lanterns and partook of a lavish array of sliced ham, assorted salads and sandwiches, relishes, cake and punch. A la tradition, the supper was served by the sophomore girls, clad in authentic oriental costumes. Delicious refreshments as well as elaborate decorations were possible in part, according to Mike Gerber, chairman of the prom committee, to economies effected by holding the dance on campus for the first time in six years. Termed an unqualified success by Chester R. Shirk, sponsor in charge, the colorful affair ended at the stroke of midnight with pictures of the handsome couples taken by the school photography department to record the event.
