10 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, MAY 21, 1953 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Ted Shipkey Elected Fullerton Junior College Student President To lead the Fullerton Junior college student body next year, Ted Shipkey, Fullerton, was elected president this week, while Judy Myers, Norwalk, was given the post of vice president; Marilyn Basinger, La Habra, secretary; and Lee Powers, Fullerton, treasurer. In addition to the student body officers, the Associated Women Students elected their 1953-54 officers also, with Edith Myers, Norwalk, achieving the presidency. Ted Shipkey takes up the post of Associated Student Body president with several high school posts to his credit. While attending Missoula, Mont., high school, he was vice president of his sophomore class, president of the tennis club, sports editor for the school paper, and member of the student council. He participated in football, tennis, and track, and is a member of the FJC tennis team. Election of Judy Myers as ASB vice president is a double triumph in a sense. Her twin sister, Edith, in the same election, became president of the women students' organization. The twins attended Excelsior high school. At Excelsior, Judy was a member of the senior steering committee, the yearbook staff, the capella choir, Quill and Scroll (Journalism) and appeared in several plays. At PJC she is a member of Theta Nu Theta, the annual Torch staff, and the a cappella choir. New student body secretary, Marilyn Basinger, came to FJC from Visalia high school. There she was a member of California Scholarship Federation, the French club, Rally club, and Girls' Glee club.
