Anaheim BPW Meet in Ebell Clubhouse The Anaheim Business and Professional Women's club met in regular session at the Ebell club house last week with President Eva Gooden presiding and Beulah Hineman serving as program coordinator. Cecile Mecker's report on the recent Cancer Fund Drive disclosed Anaheim as placing 2nd with a total of $221.69 and a grand total of $1500.00 for the county. Delegates to the San Orco district meeting gave reports on the meeting held at the Riverside Inn. Evah Drennan, using the emblem theme, acted as installing officer for installation ceremonies in Chino. The next club dinner meeting will be held Wednesday, May 27, at 6:45 at the Dragon cafe. 7 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, MAY 21, 1953 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Anaheim Women Join New Unit Of Toastmistress Two Anaheim women, Elcee Hodson and Pat Hartman, were elected president and club representative, respectively, when 17 women employees of the Northrop-Anaheim plant met to charter a new unit of the Toastmistress club, according to an announcement made by Dorothy Edwards, publicity chairman. The meeting was held at the Melody Inn in Fullerton where members of the new club were dinner guests of the Northrop Toastmasters club. Other officers elected were Julian Richison, Brea; vice president; Ila Brock, Whittler, secretary; and Edna Porobich, La Habra, treasurer. The club will meet regularly on Thursday evenings. Guests at the organization meeting were Walter Lunsford, commissioner of the Northrop Toastmasters club, and Mrs. Mark McMahon, executive secretary of International Toastmistress club, who explained qualifications for application and charter in the international organization. Other members of the club include Thelma Clay, Esther Freisen, Mary Gillespie, Ella Mae Morris, Peggy Sullivan, Joan Martin, Jerry Moddelmog, Nona Taylor, Efta Estes, Ginger Lahn and Dorothy Wrigley. Salvation Army Makes Castoff Articles Appeal Anaheim housewives are urged to keep the Salvation Army in mind when they dispose of castoff articles uncovered in closets and garages during spring cleaning. These articles will be sought by the Salvation Army during the annual salvage week campaign here June 8-13. Reconditioned in workshops of the Salvation Army social service center which serves this area, the materials will make possible a social rehabilitation program which aids needy and handicapped men.
