Evadna K. Perry Honored at Tea
Evanda Kraus Perry, who is retiring after serving 27 years in the Orange county schools was honored by 500 school administrators, teachers, and other friends at a relightful tea held in the Santa Ana Junior College lounge.
Mrs. Perry has served as art supervisor for Orange county superintended of schools office since 1929, prior to that time she taught in the La Habra schools. She is recognized nationally as the author of two books: "Art Adventure with Discarded Materials," and "Crafts for Fun."
In charge of general arrangements were Miss Frances Egge, Mrs. Pauline Gratner, Santa Ana city schools; Miss Ruth Myers and J. Francis Addy, Placentia Unified School District.

YMCA Group Compliments Tri-Hi-Y Seniors
Tri-Hi-Y senior girls were guests of honor at a formal reception recently in the home of Mrs. Marlon Fort on N. West st. The woman's advisory committee of the YMCA annually is hostess to the farewell party for the girls graduating from the Y program. Mrs. Harry Nutt, president, extended a welcome to the young ladies.
The Singing Hornets, eight young men from Fullerton junior college, sang a group of songs including "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi" and "Halls of Ivy." They were introduced by George Kohler and accompanied by Gloria Dougherty.
Mrs. Nan Moore served as moderator to a panel of local young women who discussed various opportunities for high school graduates. Members of the panel and their topics were: Pat Brooks, "I Got a Job"; Carol Davenport, "I Went to Junior College;" Mrs. R. Kenton Wines, "I Went to a Four Year College"; Helen Kirk, "I Became a Nurse;" and Mrs. Ross Walker, "I Got Married."
Mmes. Nutt and Frank Kellogg presided at the lovely table which was centered with an arrangement of pink rosebuds and pink candles in silver candelabra.

Young GOP Dance to be Fete of Year
Final arrangements for the annual Spring Dance tomorrow night at Sunny Hills in Fullerton sponsored by Orange County Young Republicans, were made a meeting of dance committees on Wednesday, May 13. Committee chairmen reported on types of decorations to be used ticket sales refreshments, entertainment, and committees to be for the evening.
The various county units put forth a great deal of effort toward making this annual together a success.

FUHS-JC Summer School Slated to Open June 29
Summer school at Fullerton union high school and Fullerton junior college opens June 29, approximately 500 students. Students will be enrolled in many classes, including academic, leisure education, shop driver training and health education, using the same standards as regular year at the high school and junior college, according to Reid, Fullerton summer school principal.
Many students enroll in summer school to lighten their load, stated. By taking one of the quired courses in either a coor or high school program, they free themselves for electives during the year. This gives them time to concentrate on the they have chosen for specialization.
Other pupils are interested broadening their program. People look back upon their so days and wish they had taken ing, chemistry, speech or number of helpful subjects, didn't have the time when school. Summer School gives pils this opportunity. Reid Pupils may also accelerate program. This especially important for the boys who are far draft notices from Uncle Sam.
During the past summer students were enrolled from different communities, include places as far away as Tu Calif., and Duke University North California.
Educational facilities at high school and junior college are used eleven months of year, five days a week, and 8 a.m., to 10 p.m., except during Christmas and Easter vacations Reid stated.

Britt Gray Wins Toaster Trophy
Britt Gray's talk on "Pickett's Charge" was chosen by Anaheim Toastmasters as the trophy winner Monday evening. Gray won out over three other speakers: R. H. Allen, "Dahlias;" Bill Chambers, "Look into the Looking Glass;" and Frank Sallee, "Why some People Believe the Commie Line."
President Lewis Boys presided over the meeting; Hal Johnson gave the invocation and George McKool conducted the table topic "Survival Under the Atom Bomb." Toastmaster of the evening was vice-president Dick Herman.
