OBLONG VIEWS Continued from Page One who would like nothing better than to see an America deprived of public schools and compounded of but two classes: a mass of ignorant peasants on the one hand, and a reigning hierarchy of rich, well-educated nobility on the other. With the eradication of the great middle class, which was brought about only through public education for all, such an evil system would prevail. Public schooling has elevated the United States of America to a pedestal envied by all countries of the world. Let us rise up against those who would sack the Public School. If the Public School goes, then so goes our democracy. And I propose to fight it out along this line if it takes all summer.
