Anaheim Gazette SUNDAY MORNING, FEB. 15, 1933 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Virgoe-Lindauer Rites Celebrated In Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Impressive baptal mass joined two popular young people of La Habra and Fullerton on Valentine day at Our Lady of Guadalupe church. Before an altar of white flowers Lucy Mac Lindauer. Fullerton Junior Ebell Hears County Advisor February meeting of Fullerton Junior Ebell was held with president, Mrs. Phil Twombly, presiding. Mrs. Hub Crawford urged club members to come to the clubhouse at 9 a.m., Feb. 17 to staff 20,000 envelopes for the Easter soil drive. This opportunity to aid in the drive for crippled children's funds should not be missed. Mrs. Clarke Simm, citizenship chairman, announced the arrival of the bloodmobile unit at the Christian church on Feb. 26. To save time, appointments can be made with Mrs. Simm, LA 5-4003, or the Red Cross. Mrs. Grover Hermes, Orange county president, introduced Mrs. Margaret Coleman of Laguna Beach, who is county adviser. In her resume of work accomplished by women's clubs, Mrs. Coleman sought to convey the thrill you can get when realizing you are part of 11½ million women associated with the Federation of Women's clubs. An invitation was extended to Fullerton members to attend the Junior Ebell meeting Feb. 16 at Laguna Beach. Prior to the regular meeting, board members met for dinner at the Clique to honor Mrs. Hermes and Mrs. Coleman. Dr. Donald Bauman, local peasant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gold Lindauer, La Habra, became the bride of Lawrence Earnest Virgoe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Virgoe. Fullerton, in double ring ceremonies performed by Father David Coleman. The lovely blond bride was escorted to the altar and given away in marriage by her father, Gold Lindauer. Her gown was fashioned with a form fitting bodice of imported French chantilly lace over white satin. A graceful train of nylon tulle fell over the traditional train. The illusion veil was held by a small cap of lace. Cascading orchids in her bridal bouquet lent a gracious floral note. Her sister, Marion Lindauer, attended Lucy as maid of honor; Toni Bill, a cousin, was bridesmaid. Both wore ballerina length gowns of white accordion pleated tulle. Brief net stoles were attached to the strapless bodices. White net Dutch caps were worn. Each girl carried a red heart of tulle centered with cascading white orchids. Serving as groomsman was Robert Langord Ushers were Donald Hart, Luther Lindauer and Joe Bills. The latter two are cousins of the bride. Following the ceremonies a reception for 175 guests was held at the home of Isidoro Eseverri. 1374 Hacienda road, La Habra Heights, grandfather of the bride. St. Anne's Guild In After-Church Session Following Holy Communion members in the St. Anne's guild of St. Andrew's Episcopal church met at the home of Mrs. W. Carl Bowen, 302 W. Amerige for a business meeting and luncheon. Co-hostesses assisting Mrs. Brown were Mrs. Charles Rand and Mrs. William F. Hemenway. The valentine motif was carried cut both in flowers and in the menu. Mrs. Tom Yeats presided at the business session. A report was made of the progress made on the new church buildings. All members were thrilled to learn that one couple of the parish has contributed two electric ranges, two automatic dishwashers and an 11 cubic-foot refrigerator for the new church kitchen. New bylaws for the guild were adopted also. Twenty eight members and five guests attended. Tri-Hi-Y Readies Father-Daughter Banquet Program At club meetings this week Tri-Hi-Y groups prepared for an annual father-daughter banquet to be held in the YMCA building next Tuesday evening. Drusen Martin was appointed as chairman and the council is in charge of donations. Reverend James Steart, pastor of St. Andrews Parish, by Women's Advisory committee Cinderella will be a senior girl all clubs will vote for her. The Tri-U senior club enjoys a valentine party at the home Myrna Lewellyn with reflections served by Mrs. Willie Lewellyn. They are going roaring skating Thursday night and paving a candy sale for Feb 24. YQT's senior club is busy working on the annual fashion show plan it will be held March 17 at Y building with Buffum's supplying the clothes. Shirley Pann was named general chairman Jean Schultz head of the decoration committee and Glenda Mugerson in charge of refreshments. Tom Alston of the Huguenot Beauty Salon of Garden Grove spoke to the junior Zi-Chi-club on hair styling. Refreshments were prepared and served by Kay Forbes and Reynette Wace. The junior Par-Y-Fem girls enjoyed a show and slumber party Wednesday evening. The sophomore Y-Colonel held a regular business meet with refreshments supplied by Glenda Smith. Pat Roberts and Elmo Richards The Electric-Y discussed money making project to raise $25 for club expenses was decided to have a draw and sell tickets at the faith daughter banquet. Amaranth Courts Honor Mrs. Florence Pyron Great tributes were bestowed upon Honored Lady Florence Pyron, assistant grand lecturer, Silver Crescent Court, Order of Amaranth, at a reception in her honor Thursday evening. Over 175 guests from Southern and Northern California gathered at the Maiden Temple for the occasion. Mrs. Pyron has been active for many years throughout the state in different Amaranth courts. Honored Lady Florence wore a gown of blue lace and nylon; her four-year-old granddaughter helped celebrate and also wore a gown of blue. Before being escorted into the temple room, Mrs. Pyron was presented with an exquisite bouquet of red roses and violets centered in a heart of nylon net. She was seated in the place of honor by escorting marshalls Lillian Nottingham and Eleanor Brown. The court was presided over by Royal Matron Rosalie Williams and Royal Patron Everett Waymire. Sir Knight Vie Carter led the flag salute and gave a patriotic tribute to the symbol of our country. A very talented pianist from Long Beach, Miss Cyrtina Baybolk played three solos, "Sofgeteu" Bach, "Waltz," Chopin, and "Waltz in A Flat." Durand, Mrs. Hazel Smalley introduced all members participating in the program. A touching tribute to Mrs. Pyron was made by Past Royal Grand Matron Delta Wibers. In 1925 Mrs. Wibers established a home for girls in Long Beach. Great contribution and service had been given by Florence Pyron at that time. Originally the home was only for Amarath girls, but it has been expanded to include others. Several years ago the home was moved to Santa Monica. The accomplishments of this home were of great interest to the courts present. Five members from the Northern California Avenal Court in tribute gave a skirt and presented her with a gift. Florence Pyron is a Past Royal Matron of that court. Another skirt and a basket of flowers were presented by the Golden Rule Court, Bell Gardens. This court was organized and constituted by the honoree. Other accolades and gifts were presented by Past Royal Matron Mae McCormick. Supreme Grand Representative to Bolivia; Grand Marshall of the West Mildred Telter, and Past Royal Matron Ruby Wardell, Grand Representative to Ontario, Canada. To the music of “Hearts and Flowers,” officers of the Silver Crescent Court entered and formed a heart on the floor. Each wore a Dolly Varden hat filled with flowers. A monetary gift enclosed in a heart shaped china candy box was presented. Then past presidents were introduced by Mrs Walter Mende and sent with corsages made by Dan Rowland. Especially honored were Miss E. Kate Rea and Adelaide Price, who were among the founders of P-TA in Annales in 1909. Past presidents attended were Mrs. Ray Tozer, Mrs A Bourne, Mrs W Head, Mrs Hattfield, Mrs S. E. Loard, Mrs E W Mulder. The rag drive contest, Woman's Advisory YMCA Committees Plans March Ball The women's advisory committee of the YMCA met in the office of Mrs Walter Taylor for a business meeting. Founder's Day Highlights George Washington P-TA Meeting With Clever Skits The clever skit in honor of Founder's Day was the highlight of the program at the George Washington P-TA meeting Wednesday noon. Mrs. S. E. Morton, playwright of the P-TA, revealed to Audriice a typical schoolroom 50 years ago, when P-TA came existence. Miss Aletha Macy her second grade portrayed old fashioned, school days in which the teacher was the stern diplinarian who did not spare food and dunce cap. The mildly atmosphere emphasized improved relationships and understanding between parents, class, and teachers in the preschool classroom. Business of the day included election of a nominating committee to prepare a slate of new officers. Serving on this committee are Mrs. Dan Rowland, Mrs. John Wilcox, Mrs. H. W. McGovney, Miss Mildred Mauerhan and Mr. V. O. Elliot. Mrs. S. E. Loard was elected to serve as representative on the Anaheim Council nominating committee. Mrs. Russell Ireland directed the group singing. Coffee, cakes, and Valentine cookies were served by the second grade room mothers, Mrs. W. C. Tuttle and Mrs. Glen Baldenger. Stantonites Surprise Mrs. James Howard Mrs. James Howard of Main st., Stanton, was surprised Wednesday night when she answered her door to find the women of the Stanton Fire Department Auxiliary laden with lovely baby gifts. Hostesses in charge were Mmes. Mike Knutsen, Paul Harrison and Philip Williams.. Prizes for shower games went to Mmes. Lee Mitchell, Malcolm P. Sanders, Leonard Wettstein and Knutson.
