A Ramble Down Hollywood Boulevard Still Good for Picking up Stories By TOM E. DANSON HOLLYWOOD—Like I said before, this boulevard is a colorful place. Don't let anyone tell you there's no glamour left on the old street, because there’s plenty of it. I pumped up the tires on my trusty bicycle the other day and sped up and down the boulevard to pick up some more of the close-ups I've given you before. I saw and talked to these people: ALAN YOUNG, who was beaming because he had just signed a contract with Dawn Addams—and that's neat signing—for his new CBS-TV show which starts Feb. 15... Oh, there goes LAURIE ANDERS in her Cad convert with the top down, and New York license plates, too, no less... JACK CARSON, who had just gotten out of the hospital 10 minutes before—and was hustling to the Lakeside golf course for his first game in a week... BILL CORRIGAN, the producer - director of NBS's "Hollywood Opening Night" who told me he had just signed Gloria Swanson for the show of Feb. 16, and had Boris Karloff, June Havoc and others coming up... two of the best brains in TV and radio, BILL MORROW, who produces the Bing Crosby show, and BOB WELSH, who did many of the Bing-Bob Hope films, and is now thinking up new ideas for NBC (hey, do you suppose NBC is flirting with Bing for TV)? ROBERTA LINN was on the way to CBS with her singing dog, Chiquita. "I now an agent for my dog," she told me, making Chiquita a lucky dog... JO STAF-FORD stopped me long enough to show me some pictures of son, Timothy, who is now four months old as he always does when he isn't getting paid to be mad... JO STAF-FORD stopped me long enough to show me some pictures of son, Timothy, who is now four months old, and ought to be out doing his own show pretty soon... RED SKELTON took off his coat to let me peek down the back of his open shirt and see the incision on his back. "Worse than the Black Dahlia case, huh?" he asked me... Mr. High Blood Pressure himself, GALE GORDON, who's always exploding on the air in his roles as Prof. Conklin and Mayor La-Trivia, came ambling by, calmly smoking a pipe and smiling.
