Powerful NCAA Rules Committee to Decide on Sucker Shift, Platoons Stanford Announces Football Schedule PALO ALTO, Jan. 10 (UP)—Stanford today announced a 1953 schedule of 10 football games. The schedule: Sept. 19, College of Pacific, site not definite but Annual Sports Night to be Held At Fullerton ST. The schedule: Sept. 19, College of Pacific; site not definite but probably at Palo Alto; Sept. 26, Oregon at Palo Alto; Oct. 10, Oregon State at Portland; Oct. 17, UCLA at Palo Alto; Oct. 24, Washington State at Palo Alto; Nov. 7, Southern California at Los Angeles; Nov. 14, San Jose State at Palo Alto; Nov. 21 California at Palo Alto. The kiss is believed to be a form of polite or ceremonial salute by tasting. Annual Sports Night to be Held At Fullerton With a full evening of sports entertainment, athletic awards and a banquet scheduled, the annual sports night at Fullerton junior college will be held Wednesday evening, Jan. 14 in the men's gymnasium beginning at 7 o'clock. Fall sports awards will be made at the affair which is sponsored by the Associated Men Students. Featured guests will be members of the Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, Optimists and other service clubs, all of whom have received invitations. Tickets for the second annual affair may be secured from members of the AMS, the Hornet Knights, or the Pep club and from the office of the dean of men. Dr. Robert E. Swenson. Tickets will also be sold at the door to the gymnasium. After a spaghetti dinner, the entertainment program and awarding of athletic awards will get underway. Boxing, wrestling, tumbling and gymnastics, a judo exhibition and musical numbers by the Singing Hornets are scheduled for the entertainment. Awards will be given for football, cross-country and water polo. Likely to prove an outstanding feature again this year, said Dr. Swenson, will be the judo demonstration. This impressive illustration of judo tactics will be presented by a four man group from the Camp Pendleton judo demonstration team, under Lt. Sullivan. The boxing demonstration, supervised by George Fowler, will be presented by Bert Waters (Buena Park), Fred Arce (Fullerton), and Lynn Lymann (Fullerton), FJC students. Supervised by Jim Smith, a demonstration of gymnastics will be given by Bob Foley, FJC student and outstanding gymnast from Canada, and an exhibition on the parallel bars by Ernie Contreras. (AP)—The National Conference, scoring one first period touchdown on a tremendous 74-yard pass play, and another on a little blooper of 12 yards, went on to defeat the American Conference, 27-7, in the annual National Football league pro-bowl game today. Quarterback Norman Van Brocklin of the Los Angeles Rams and rooky end Bill Howton of the Green Bay Packers got together on the brilliant 74-yard aerial that gave the crowd of 34,208, plus a national television audience, the greatest thrill of the well fought game. Feud Ends as Middleweight Title NEW YORK, Jan. 10 (UP)—After years of feuding and fussing, the New York State Athletic Commission and the National Boxing Association got together today and immediately went to work on a middleweight title elimination tournament. After the afternoon debating George Barton of Minneapolis, president of the NBA, said the U.S. contenders for Ray Sugar Robinson's discarded crown would be named next Monday. Name Contenders "I think you can say," he added, "that Carl Bobo Olson of Honolulu, Ernie Durando of Bayonne, N.J., Rockey Castellani of Luzerne, Pa., and Norman Hayes of Boston, will be on the list." Olsen and Hays already have been matched; meeting in Boston on Feb.7. No formal pact ending the cold war between the two boxing factions was signed because New York State laws do not permit it. Separate agreements with the various members of the NBA will be signed within the next十 days. In effect,the action of "perfecting an association" of New York with the NBA actually means about the same thing as membership. Larry Harvill, first year treasurer, was voted the new position of vice president, Barry Ryan was elected to the treasurer's position, and Mary Flynn succeeded herself as secretary. Important business of the meeting was the adoption of the club constitution. Charter membership was granted to all those paying their first year dues. De-linquent members were warned that Jan. 24 is the dead-line for payment of 1952 dues. Those not paying by that time will automatically be dropped from membership and will receive no further notice of club meetings and activities. Announcement was made of tennis tournaments during January in which local netters might participate; entry blanks for all of these may be obtained from Mrs. Bob Williams, Anaheim Recreation Director of Tennis, at the city park courts on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the regular week-end tennis practice. Freshments were served under the direction of Dick Hanson, outgoing vice-president. Satchel Paige Signs with Browns ST. LOUIS, Jan. 10. Ages less LeRoy "Satchel" Paige today signed his 1953 contract with the St. Louis Browns. It was the third Brownie contract for Paige who first came up to the major leagues with Cleveland and Bill Vecek in 1948. "Satch," when asked about terms of his new contract, slowed his speech down and said: "I better take another look at the contract." Nimble Fox lived up to his name today when he beat out six other sprinters to win the $15,000 added Straus Memorial at Tropical park and score the first handicap triumph of his racing career. Nimble Fox ran the six furlongs in 1:09 4/5 over track made slow by Friday's rainstorm. Starecase finished a length and a quarter behind the winner but saved the place from Greentree stable's Northern Star. Nimble Fox paid $14.60, $5.90 and $4 and Northern Star $4.60. The former U.S. Open champion and winner of the Los Angeles Open last Monday charged to the point of a star-packed field of professionals and amateurs with six-under-par 66 today to add to five-under first round yesterdays.
