NEUBAUER Babies haven't any hair; Old men's heads are just as bare—Between the cradle and the grave Lies a hairstyle and a shave. —Samuel Hoffenstein. INSPIRATIONAL—When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.—I Cor. 8:11. NAMES—What's in a name? Reckon as how there's quite a bit to a name. Kids in school used to snicker when teacher called mine... And that gracious lady from Olive has a distinctive name—she's Mrs. Anna Heim. Actually, many of the pioneer Anaheimers spelled this community's name Annaheim... Herman Schacht, likewise, is the possessor of a proud name made famous one of his shirt-tail relatives, a financial genius... Know anyone whose names rhyme? Like Wayne Payne, finish. NOTES—The 18 or 20,000 that County Health Officer Edward Lee Russell, and Dr. John Bower have discovered garbage-fed hogs to be disease infected, city administrators may have to find a new means of garbage disposal. Hog farms would also disappear from the scene, sterilizing garbage would be too expensive for feed. Raw garbage usually sells for $2.40 a ton. HISTORY — Back in 1932 an outbreak VE—vesicular exanthema—was discovered in the Buena Park-Fullerton area where hogs were fed raw garbage. It was believed that the swine were suffering from hoof and mouth disease and were exterminated. Anaheimers still remember the slaughter of the pigs and how they were buried in lime-filled trenches. PASSING—Warren Ashleigh is always a distinguished figure when he promenades along the main stem. The able Anaheimmer is always on the alert to improve the old home town. You wouldn't know it by looking at him, but he was one of Anaheim's better athletes in his day... Herman Hiltscher who had the misfortune of losing both his mother and father within the year will be Fullerton's city administrator... Carlton Andrews recently completed an ambitious trip to the North American continent—18 states and Canada... Everett Hogland whom many Anaheimmers remember as the bandmaster at the Balboa pavilion. 3:00 P.M.
