Mayor Charles Pearson will personally deliver the Thanksgiving Proclamation, and the American Legion color guard from Post 72 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will escort into the assembly a colorful procession of American and Christian flags borne by junior high school boys representing every local church.
The high school orchestra, directed by William Cook, will provide appropriate numbers, and a combined choir of over a hundred voices recruited from every church in Anaheim will sing, under the direction of Harland Anderson, minister of music at White Temple Methodist church.
Presidents of the Anaheim Association of Christian Churches, the Ministerial Union, and the United Council of Church Women will lead in the service; and the speaker of the hour will be Rev. Al Casebecer of the Christian church on "That Rock in Plymouth Town."
With every organization cooperating to make this Anaheim's real expression of gratitude to God for a good life in a nation of free men, a capacity throng is anticipated for the event. It has purposely been scheduled early in the day to allow time for those going out of town to family gatherings to include the hour of worship before leaving.
'Soul and Body' Is Christian Science Subject
The understanding of God as Soul heals bodily and mental illies declares the Lesson-Sermon on "Soul and Body" to be read in all Christian Science churches Sunday. The Golden Text is from the Psalms (84:2): "My soul longeth, yea, even mineth for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God."
In Mark's Gospel (10:46, 47, 51, 52) it is reported that blind Bartimaeus, who "sat by the highway side begging," "cried out, saying, 'Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me . . . And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto you?

Special Service For Thanksgiving Slated at Zion
A special annual Thanksgiving Day Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27 at Zion Lutheran church, Emily and Charles. It will begin with the Professional Hymn, "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty," a 300 year old favorite chorale.
The pastor, the Rev. E. B. Pfug, has chosen I Thessis, 5:15 as the text for the festival ad dress, "America, Give Thanks." He says, "With the Lord's graceous guidance, protection and providence for another 12 months period, it is only proper that his people, by faith in Christ Jesus come together in their place of worship to return public thanks to the Giver of all good gifts." Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, offers all Americans a wonderful opportunity to evaluate the rich physical and spiritual heritage we have received from our ancestors. It is our prayer that as in other years, thankful Americans will crowd God's Temples and do so even more in this year of momentous decisions. The public is cordially invited.
Special music will be provided by the Zion Senior Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Walter Kemp pin. They will render the anthem "Praise Me the Father." Special prayers for the personnel in the Armed Forces of our nation, special prayers of Thanksgiving and a prayer for national security will be presented at this service. The Recessional Hymn, "God Bless our Native Land" will close the service.
Sunday, Nov. 23, at the 11 a.m. service Pastor Pfug will speak on the topic, "Christ's Standard on Judgment Day." Math. .25,$1-46. The Senior School choir under the direction of Paul Lohr will present the anthem, "Bless the Lords O My Soul" and the Senior choir will sing, "Praise, Adoration."

Rev. White announces the scrapbook for the International Sunday School contest is being prepared by Mrs. Paul Pletz to be submitted in December. Layout Artist Gives Approval
Once in awhile something happens to make the day seem brighter and the job a bit more worth while doing. One of those things happened yesterday in the form of a letter from Don May, Anaheim artist and design counsel, who laid out the Optimist week advertisement published in the Gazette last Friday. Here it is:
Gentlemen:
May I take this time to compliment you and your staff on the very excellent typographic handling of the Optimist ad of last Friday night.
I have had many a layout set by a community newspaper and have regretted the result every time—with this and very few other exceptions. It was a very beautiful and accurate type translation of the layout and the result was an attractive page indeed. Sincerely, Don May.

Malay Missionary To Give Talk
A first hand "Report from China and Malaya" will be brought to the regular 7 o'clock Sunday night service at White Temple Methodist church by Rev. Henry Lacy, recently returned missionary from those areas, whose long career in Asia for the Methodist board of missions qualified him for distinguished leadership in both China and Malaya.
Prior to the outbreak of the Communist war in China, Henry Lacy had already rendered a lifetime service in that restless land. Forced then to evacuate, as were all Americans, he was promptly reassigned to serve the large Chinese population in Malaya, which is the new area of Communist unrest and potential difficulty.
There, working chiefly with young people who are members of the Methodist Youth Fellowship, he observed a vitality among Christians in resistance to communist ideology which holds a great hope for the future of southeast Asia. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Lacy, who will speak to the youth group of MYF activities in Malaya, following the regular service. Both are speaking Sunday morning in Riverside.
At both the 9 and 11 o'clock morning services, Rev. Frank E. Butterworth will preach on "Frozen Assets," an interpretation of the parable of the talents.
