KBX-Hawthorne (C)-1983, by Universals Radio Features Synd.-Tom E. Danson. IN THE DAYS OF LONG AGO From the Files of Anaheim Gazette By MRS. HENRY KUCHEL 75 Years Ago November 1877 The injunction suit of the Anaheim Water Company against the Semi-tronie county and other irrigators will come up for hearing in the district court tomorrow. It is said that in Santa Ana they are using water to irrigate new land. It would seem that, in view of the scarcity of the fluid, they should be content with sufficient to irrigate their growing crops. Mr. M. L. Goodman returned yesterday from the Hot Springs where he has been sojourning for the past two months. Anaheim Gazetteer by JOHN S. NEUBAUER ... The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong.—Ecc. 9:11. ELECTION—Now that Dwight Eisenhower has been elected, the 39-year-old senator who was born in Yorba Linda will be vice-president. It is a singular honor for the young Whittier lawyer to have risen so fast in the national political arena. It will be up to Gov. Warren to select a successor for the vice-president-elect. The best qualified man for the job, according to the old Gazetteer, is none other than Anaheim's Tommy Kuchel who has served California so well. He would make a mighty fine junior senator from the Golden State. Don't you agree? MEMORIES—Now that the Rex Construction Co. is reconstructing Anaheim's old Fairland theater, nostalgic memories of moom pictures are revived. In 1919 or thereabouts, people were so eager to get into the theater for special super silent attractions that they broke down the doors. Remember Wesley Barry? Roscoe (Fatty) Arbuckle? Billy Doolev? Larry Simon? Chester Conklin? Our Gang? Thelma Todd and Zazue Pitts. Remember those Mack Sennett comedies? Laurel and Hardy? And the epics of the era? Toable David? Birth of a Nation? and the Great Mall Robbery? How about the original Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (the silent version)? Remember those World war I pictures where the moom picture camera was geared to 16 frames per second and how the shadows linked and threw off each other. And while we're at it, let's give credit to the folks who served on the election boards. These outstanding people did a fine job. None of them complained about the long hours. They earned their pay—which was hardly equivalent to the minimum wage standard. Anyway, folks, congratulations. The old Gazetteer would like to praise each and every one of you individually, but that's out — there aren't enough columns in the newspaper to do so. REMINDER—the Anahi-Fullerton football classic will be played at the Fullerton stadium instead of La Palma park as originally scheduled. A record crowd for an Oranco high school game is expected. PEOPLE'—Jim Roe is a kid who knows how to handle a rifle. Just like a lot of other sportsmen we know... Joe Hernandez is looking for a pitcher for his Kwikset team as we have referred. Isn't Howard Henning who, was given a look-by by the Ellay Angels, a member of the Kwikest team? That Max Besler is really an outstanding public relations man... Elmer Willifas, they tell me, is looking for another distinctive pet to replace Smokey, the cat that wouldn't move to the Williams' new hacienda. Musta INTECAPSULE — Human nature is strange. A lot of folks wish for things they could have if they worked for them instead of wishing they had them. LEGAL NOTICES (Pub.
