Mr. and Mrs. Donald K. Pullman, 10881 Magnolia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Janice Lynn, to Doyle Eugene Snow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Snow of 17432 Studebaker rd., Artesia.
Miss Pullman is a senior at AUHS and co-editor of the Colonist yearbook. She is also queen of Gobs Daughters Bethel No. 5.
Her fiance attended Magnolia, AUHS and Bakersfield schools. No wedding plans have been made as the bridegroom-to-be will enter the armed services soon. He is in business with his father who is co-owner of the Stanton House Movers in Buena Park.
Layette Shower Honors Matrons
The Women's Missionary Society of the First Baptist church honored Mrs. Warren Wallace and Mrs. Stanley Backlund at a delightful layette shower Friday evening in the church.
Identical gifts were presented to the honorees as a group gift. Mrs. Marjorie Smith was chairman of the refreshment committee, Mrs. Dorothy Stevens had charge of games; Mrs. Nina Pebley, decorations and Mrs. Wilma Miller, gifts.
Rules Listed for Art Association County Exhibit
Orange County Art Association will sponsor it's fourth annual non-juried members exhibit on Oct. 4 through 18 in the lecture hall of Fullerton public library.

Orange County Art Association will sponsor its fourth annual non-juried members exhibit on Oct. 4 through 18 in the lecture hall of Fullerton public library.
The non-juried exhibition will feature original work of members in oil, watercolor painting and drawing. Copied work is not accepted and only one entry per member is accepted.
All paintings, pastels, drawings, etchings and prints are to be framed. Excessively wide frames or size of entry may prevent work from being accepted.
No work previously exhibited in Orange county galleries will be accepted.
The entry must have been done within the past two years.
No work is to be removed during the duration of the show. All accepted works will remain as placed by the Exhibition committee.
The Orange County Art Association will not be responsible for loss or damage to any entry sent or brought, or displayed in this exhibition.
Entries may be left at the following places not later than Friday, Oct. 3.

Magnolia P-TA Executives Have First Meeting
Magnolia P-TA executive board met for the first time this year at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Boulding, 8622 Broadway.
Mrs. Richard S. Yater, ways and means chairman, told the group of tentative plans for a mage sale in the near future.
Mrs. Roy Fierce, program committee chairman, has completed the program for the first association meet which is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. in the school auditorium.
The business session was followed by a potluck luncheon. Attending were Mmes, Cleo Mossman, Lawrence Dunnett, Vernon Herer, Frank McManus, Robert Johnson, James Allen, Lawrence Martin, John Dudley, Lenzi Alland and Rex Nierson.
The next board meet will be at the home of Mrs. Mossman, 9922 ill rd., according to Mrs. Edmund R. Cook, publicity chairman.
ERAMICS CLASS
Supt. Wayne L. Butterbaugh announces that as part of the adult education plan, a ceramics class being held Thursday nights at o'clock, with Mrs. Donnie V. Askins of 10511 S. Katella as instructor. She will teach porcelain and ceramics, lace work, floral and overglazing. She is the AUHS instructor.
The second class will be Oct. 2 when registrations will still be open. Other crafts will be available if the demand is large enough, Butterbaugh said.
The Tuesday Sewing club of press met last week at the home of Mrs. Leon Sewel, 8622 Lauma. The evening was climaxed with refreshments.
MISS GERALDINE HELLER has been named Home Service director for the Southern Counties Gas Co.'s Orange county division, it was announced today by Division Manager Justin M. Kennedy. Miss Heller will take over the company's extensive Home Service program formerly conducted by Miss Louise Thomas, who is leaving the company to become an instructor in the Homemaking department of Orange Coast college. Miss Heller holds a BS degree in Home Economics and dietetics.
SPELLING BEE
Danny Doller, 13-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren W. Doller, 10112 Ball rd., defended the males when the ladies at the Knights of Columbus picnic Sunday at La Palm park downed all the men in a spelling bee but Danny. He held out to the end and the match resulted in a tie. He has won the spelling awards at St. Boniface school for the last three years.
Family Reunion For Birthday of Aaron Hermance
Celebrating a family reunion and the birthday of Aaron Hermance, at the Chungking cafe Friday night, were the sisters, brothers and families of Mrs. O. A. Weatherman of this city.
Present were Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Weatherman, sister of the guests; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hermance and family of Ontario; Mr. and Mrs. Clark Hermance and family of Orange; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cole and family of Fullerton; Aaron and Vernon Hermance of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; Mrs. Fern Williams and son of El Dorado; Mrs. Olive Holt and sons of Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Waterbury and son from Honshu, Japan. The dinner climaxed two weeks of sight seeing and visiting enjoyed by the new members of the families.
Popular TV Show to be Given Here
The C.R.Rogers Memorial VFW Auxiliary of Cypress will present a star-studded show, headed by Jack McElroy of television fame, Oct. 8 in the auditorium of AUHS at 8 p.m.
Prizes amounting to $300 will be given away to adults and children, the proceeds of the show to go to the general fund of the VFW women, according to Mrs. Bertha Stead of the planning committee.
Mrs. Annette K. Lucas won the opportunity for the club to have the show when she wrote a letter describing club activities to McElroy several months ago and members appeared on his program and were judged club of the week by Paul Price, news correspondent. Other committee heads are Mmes. Ann Wedeking and Ivy Muesse.
Olive Youth 4-H Honors
Eddie Carnegie, Olive was selected as one of place winners in the 4-H home electric project in this contest were 4-H club members their complete 4-H club Eddie Carnegie has been member of the Placentia club for four years. He an outstanding job of pricty to work in his faction operation. They have use to many labor save.
Assoc. Chair Meet Tonight
The membership meets Associated Chambers mercy of Orange county banquet tonight at the Harbor Yacht club, 72 ave., Balboa.

NE RING CIRCUS conducted by John Strong, will be a feature of the forthcoming Thomas Jefferson P-TA carnival. Mrs. Phillip Bird, ways and means chairman, has announced the event as the one big P-TA project for the year. Circus tickets are available through pupils of the fourth, fifth and sixth grades and will also be for sale at the tent entrance. Prize and refreshment booths will be featured and movies will be shown in the kindergarten. The public is invited.

Olive Youth Wins 4-H Honors
Eddie Carnegie, Olive, recently was selected as one of the first place winners in the 4-H farm and home electric project. Competing in this contest were 4-H members from all parts of Southern California.
Selections for this contest were made from records submitted by 4-H club members giving their complete 4-H club records. Eddie Carnegie has been a member of the Placentia Tigers 4-H club for four years. He has done an outstanding job of putting electricity to work in his family's farm operation. They have applied its use to many labor saving devices.
Assoc. Chambers Meet Tonight
The membership meeting of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Orange county will be a banquet tonight at the Newport Harbor Yacht club, 720 W. Bay ave., Balboa.
Members are invited to visit and inspect the new Hoag Memorial hospital (Presbyterian) at Newport Beach between 5 and 6:30 p.m. prior to the reception on the yacht's bow at 6:30. Ladies, presidents, directors and secretaries are special guests to hear Hon. John Murdy, California state senator, review the value of the Hoag hospital, following its dedication Sept. 14 on the Orange county.
Special music has been arranged and reservations are necessary, according to Howard Crooke, president.
Olive Notes
Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Timken, who have been married five years, were given a party Sunday in the Atwood home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harms in honor of the occasion. Mrs. Timken and Mrs. Harms are the daughters of the Arthur Breljes of Orange. Swimming, card playing, and group singing formed the entertainment of the afternoon and evening hours, and a buffet supper was served at 6 o'clock.
