individuals mentioned, Bidell spending days on the phone tracking down this information.
These "Salutes from KPOL" will have a new time starting Sept. 29, when they will be run from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Keynoting commercial operations are the famed six hour pen day "pokla programming" involving three two hour segments daily. KPOL is the first west coast station to adopt this basic program format, many eastern stations in metropolitan areas being spectacularly successful with this type of "happy" programming. Particular attention is to be given the "home life in Southern California, with other programs specifically designed for daytime listening."
KPOL joins KBIG Avalon and KBLA Burbank as the third new outlet in Los Angeles county this year. "K-POL-ku" will be on the right side of the AM-dial and use 1540 kilocycles, 5,000 watts daytime.

Likes Korea? That’s What The Man Says
WITH U.S. SECOND DIVISION, Korea (P)—At least one guy likes it here. And he’s from California!
Sgt. Max B. Ogas of Los Angeles is on his third Korean tour. He doesn’t like stateside duty.
Ogas, a tank commander, has spent more than half of the last six years in Korea. And he’s seen a lot of bloody fighting.
The three-time veteran first came to Korea in November of 1946, as a member of the occupation forces.
Two years later he returned to the U.S. and was sent to Fort Lewis, Wash., home of the Second division.
When the Korean war broke out in June, 1950, Ogas was with the first wave of the Indianhead division to land at Pusan. As a member of the 72nd tank battalion he saw action in five major battles between the Pusan perimeter and the Yah river. He earned the Silver Star for gallantry and the Purple Heart.
Last November Ogas rotated to the U.S. and was sent to Fort Knox, Ky. But he said statewide duty was not to his liking and asked to return to his old outfit in Korea.
The sergeant rejoined the 72nd tank battalion July 29.
It wasn’t long before he was in action again, in the recent victorious but savage battle for "Old Baldy" on Korea's western front.

SACRAMENTO (P) — Sunday will be Cabrillo Day in California, Gov. Warren proclaimed today, in honor of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the Portuguese explorer who landed in San Diego Bay in 1542.
WHEELING, W. Va. (P)—Sen. Rinchard M. Nixon hurried to catch his campaign plane here yesterday, a Wheeling policeman tried to hand him a brown top-coat he thought the Republican vice-presidential nominee had left behind.
"No sir," said Nixon. "I don't take anything that doesn't belong to me."
