State Suspends Airport Engineer For Falsifying Expense Account
SACRAMENTO (CNS) — The state personnel board today announced it had confirmed suspension of Robert L. Webb, Jr., a supervising airport engineer, for 30 days.
B. M. Doolin, aeronautics director, said Webb is charged with "submitting false and improper" thoroughly by Disrtict Attorn J. Francis O'Shea, who decided that the case would not be prosecuted.
Doolin said he felt Webb had been guilty of "foolishness a lack of attention to detail," and stated he felt the 30-day suspense

State Suspends Airport Engineer For Falsifying Expense Account
SACRAMENTO (CNS) — The state personnel board today announced it had confirmed suspension of Robert L. Webb, Jr., a supervising airport engineer, for 30 days.
B. M. Doolin, aeronautics director, said Webb is charged with "submitting false and improper" expense claims in the amount of $414.50 for lodging between December, 1948, and January, 1951.
Meanwhile, officials in the state controllers office announced that the money has been recovered through the procedure of withholding that amount from Webb's $8500 per year salary.

Evening School Sets Commercial Class Opening
Registration for evening school classes in typing and bookkeeping will be held tonight between 7 and 8 p.m. in the commercial building of Anaheim union high school.
Typing classes, to be held each Wednesday evening, are open both as a course for beginners and as a refresher course for more experienced typists.
Bookkeeping classes, conducted at the same hour is open primarily to beginning bookkeepers interested in learning small business bookkeeping fundamentals and the theory of accounts.
Both classes are to be conducted by Ralph Wines, professional accountant and commercial instructor at the day school for the high school.
The courses are two classes of 18 currently being offered residents of the Anaheim area under sponsorship of Anaheim union high school adult education program. Registration fee is one dollar. For further information, those interested should contact night school principal, William Poulson, at Anaheim 2231.
Optimists to See Fishing Films
Eugene Bressel of Santa Ana will show a colored movie on "Fishing in the High Sierras" during the Anaheim Optimists club meeting tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the Boys Center club house at 133 W. Chartres st. Also on the program is Vic Ruedy, City park superintendent, who has promised to have the manager of the new baseball league, for which the Optimists hold the Anaheim franchise, at the meeting for a short talk on the workings of the league.
Anaheim Optimists and Kwik-set Locks, Inc., will enter teams in the new league. Local games will be played in La Palma park beginning the first of the year. Beginning Oct. 5, the teams will play out-of-town games only.

Kiwanis Hears PR Expert
"Little Holes Sink Big Ships" was the title of an address on public relations delivered Tuesday noon before the Kiwanis club at its regular weekly meeting by Bert Stewart, Jr., field secretary of the National Auto club. Stewart was introduced by H. H. Stabbert, program chairman of the day.
Roy McCorkle, European mission chief for CARE, Inc., gave a short talk on what his organization is doing and solicited continued support for their program.
City Manager Keith Murdock spoke briefly in support of the municipal bond issue to be voted on soon. He stressed the need of expansion and modernization of our utility system and stated that passage of the bonds will not raise taxes or utility rates.
Northrop Anaheim Breaks Ground For New Recreational Facilities
Construction of a recreation area for company personnel has begun at the Anaheim Division of Northrop Aircraft, Inc., Richard R. Nolan, Northrop-Anaheim manager, has announced.
“This recreation program,” said Nolan, “is the continuance of Northrop Aircraft’s policy of furnishing its personnel with the best available facilities for leisure-time and in-plant activities.
He disclosed that a softball diamond, a lunch area, a stage with public address system, and sports areas for noontime recreation are expected to be completed within the next 60 days.
The softball field, which will be equipped with lights, will be located adjacent to the south of the plant. It will be used primarily for intraplant softball games.
A frame building is being converted into a canteen where personnel will be able to purchase light lunches. A covered patio with tables will extend from one end of this building.
Various activities during the noon hour will be conducted on the stage. The public address system will be utilized for announcements by the Northrop-Anaheim Recreation Club and other events.

The board of directors of the Kwikset Recreation Association announced today the names of the new officers who will direct the group recreation and athletic programs of the 650 employees of the Anaheim lockset manufacturing company. The board was elected recently in plant-wide balloting.

The board of directors of the Kwikset Recreation Association announced today the names of the new officers who will direct the group recreation and athletic programs of the 650 employees of the Anaheim lockset manufacturing company. The board was elected recently in plant-wide balloting.
Guy Dolce, 1142 S. Ross, Santa Ana, of the Kwikset Lacquer Finishing department, was elected president of the association. Vice-president is Phil Adams, 7592 Artesia, Buena Park, plant superintendent; secretary, Annette Crenshaw, 708 N. Paulina, Anaheim, Final Assembly; and treasurer, Teresa Schad, 600 Fullerton, Buena Park, Credit Union.
Other members of the board are Bud Carter, 308 E. Adele, Anaheim, Final Assembly; Verna Benbrooks, 509 E. Chartres, Anaheim, Sales and Service; and Danny Bates, 1229 E. Garden Grove, Orange, Defense Products.
The board of directors of the association coordinates the group athletic, recreation, and social activities of the company's employees. Details of the various activities are handled by committees.
Unemployment Trend Downward In California
SACRAMENTO (CNS) — The number of new unemployment insurance claims throughout California continued its downward trend during the week ending Sept. 4 with a 10 per cent drop from the week before, the state department of employment reported today.
Officials noted declines in all types of claims during the week. New claims were down to 9754 from 10,800 the week before. The number of claims paid decreased from 55,733 to 51,702, and the total number of claims received fell off from 74,154 to 68,657.
Records for the Santa Ana office showed 84 new claims filed, compared with 83 the previous week. The office received a total of 584 and paid 409.
