'AWelcome House' Dedicated by C of C City Officials, to Growth of Anaheim Anaheim's Welcome House, located on Manchester ave., between Euclid and Lincoln aves., was officially dedicated yesterday and will be open to serve prospective Anaheimers beginning Sunday. The house is a part of the Chamber-sponsored campaign to bring people to Anaheim to live and to provide housing for them. Materials and labor that went into the Welcome House were provided by the following firms: lumber, Patten-Blinn Lumber Co.; painting, Steve P. No Injuries in 2 Local Crashes Property damage only resulted in two accidents on Anaheim streets yesterday. Cars driven by Frederick H. Englehard of Santa Ana and Victor Johnson, 10301 Walnut st., Anaheim, collided at Walnut st. and Manchester ave. at 6:30 p.m. yesterday. At Los Angeles and Broadway, cars driven by Noma Welna Rassler, residing in the TV motel, highway 101, Anaheim, and Bernard Francis Flynn, Jr., 9891 S. Los Angeles st., collided at 9:47 a.m. BUILDING PERMITS Otto Trapp, 1505 E. Santa Ana st., was issued a building permit for a $10,000 house and garage that address yesterday. Annotate permit was issued to John Noble 2300 E. LaPalma ave. for a dwelling and garage at 2340 E. LaPalma, to cost $11,000. Liquor Dealer's License Revoked For Illegal Sale Heinz August Dormann, proprietor of Reimer's delicatessen 926 N. Los Angeles st., was given a $200 fine yesterday for selling beer to a minor. Dormann was found guilty selling beer to an 18 year-old Abeim youth last Wednesday. The youth has paid a $50 fine in case. The court suspended $200 of the $200 fine levied on Dormann and placed him on probation for six months. Today a representative of State Board of Equalization notified Dormann that his license had been revoked indefinitely. Chief of Police Mark Stephenson of Anaheim said today, he regard to the Dormann case "From now on, both proprietors and minors involved in the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages Anaheim are going to be prosecuted to the limit of the law." Their own best interests, proprietors should realize that identification carried by a person is not enough evidence on which to seize alcoholic beverages to a person. Three Juvenile Hall Inmates Make Escape Three inmates of the county juvenile home made their escape last night and were still at large today, after stealing and abandoning an automobile near Villa Park. High School Board Hosts AAIG; Make Plans for Curriculum Change Members of the high school board of trustees last night offered their cooperation to the visiting job training committee of the Anaheim area industrial group which is attempting to provide facilities for training to their employees. The board, meeting in regular session, agreed the need for building and maintaining a pool of skilled workers in this area is of great importance now that industries are locating here in such large numbers. A joint meeting between committees from the board and the AAIG was proposed, at which time curriculum problems for both regular and night school sessions will be worked out. Explain Program Oscar Schultz, chairman of the job committee, told board members the purpose behind the AAIG's program is twofold—first to offer immediate relief of their present personnel problems and second to stimulate an interest in the high school students of the advantage of industrial training as a means of making a livelihood. In expanding on the group's ideas on these matters, Schultz said many young people are not fully aware of the advantages industrial work has to offer them. He also said members of the AAIG are interested in providing a means for their employees to increase job skills and chances for upgrading. Specialist Principal Paul H. Demaree said he will contact the state department of education and have them send in an industrial curriculum specialist to help in setting up adequate programs for the high school. Members of area industry will get up detailed plans of their own needs and work with the board in setting up a night school program which will offer accelerated classes in shop and classroom work. Principal Demaree reported enrollment of 1345 students in the high school and indicated an additional 125 or more will register by next week. Some crowding exists in Spanish classes, but plans to alleviate the situation are being worked out. The board gave the principal the authority to hire a Spanish instructor and a girls' physical education instructor if it becomes necessary at a later date. Also Discussed In other action the board: 1. Heard plans for polling place locations for the Nov. 4 $2-500,000 school bond election for establishment of a junior high school district. 2. Discussed methods of notifying voters of the need for passage of the bond through letters, brochures, etc. 3. Agreed to advertise for bids on a three-quarter ton pickup truck. Three Juvenile Hall Inmates Make Escape Three inmates of the county juvenile home made their escape last night and were still at large today, after stealing and abandoning an automobile near Villa Parral while a fourth escapee from the home was rounded up by Santa Ana police. The three involved in one break from the home on Fruit street Santa Ana, were a 15-year-old Placentia boy, a 14-year-old from Los Alamitos and a 12-year-old from San Juan Capistrano. They left the juvenile home at 6:30 p.m. At 7:35 p.m. they stole an automobile from George Hasenyager at 2175 Grand ave., between Santa Ana and Orange. A sheriff's prowl car found the car abandoned on Old County Park road, a half-mile east of Santiago ave. Villa Park, at 9:10 p.m. It's gasoline tank was empty. No further trace of the boys have been seen. A 16-year-old Santa Ana inmate of the home made a separate break, but was located at his "hideout," the home of a girl friend on E. Second st., Santa Ana. Police say they learned in questioning him that he and another boy were marijuana users, having purchased their first marijuana cigarettes for 50 cents each last month. A stranger sold them the cigarettes on the street, the boy said. He and his companion also had purchased marijuana seeds for $2, to "grow their own," he said. But when he led them to the location of the plants, the plot was bare. Weather Southern California—Mostly clear today, tonight and Saturday. Slightly warmer and not quite so windy in afternoons. Continued cool tonight.
