NEWSFRONTS — Drowning of Floyd (Arky) Vaughan, 40, former major league baseball player, in Modoc county highlighted the news. Vaughan was signed off Steve Luther's Cypress Merchants in 1930 following his graduation from Fullerhi where he was an outstanding athlete. Anaheim's Johnny Wagner was his brother-in-law ... Sen. John J. Sparkman (D-Ala) Democrat vice-presidential aspirant, opened the 1952 presidential campaign with a 25-minute Labor Day address at Huntington Beach yesterday. Val Moore's Anaheim Hawaiian Dancing Dolls entertained. Sparkman made another speech in Whittier, Richard Nixon's home town ... Anahelmers of school age got ready to buckle down to school. At least 2500 students from kindergarten to high school seniors are expected to register ... Orange county beaches were as crowded as Coney Island over the weekend. Lifeguards did their duty by rescuing the too adventuresome.
DEATH—Barry Lee Fuller, 25, a Santa Ana city employee was killed while working. He was the 61st traffic fatality of the year. A number of those injured over the long weekend aren't expected to live. consequently the holiday death toll won't be known for sometime.

Local Home Loan Assn. to Observe Nat'l Home Week
Home ownership in the United States has increased 35 per cent over the past ten years, and over 55 per cent of the nation's families now own their own houses, according to Robert S. Borden, manager of The Savings, Loan and Building Association of Anaheim.
The announcement was made by Borden in connection with the local institution's observation of National Home Week, Sept. 14-21, which is dedicated to the American tradition of home ownership.
FJC Entrance Tests Sept. 6
Fullerton Junior College announces that the English and Psychological tests will be given on Saturday morning Sept. 6 in Room 317 of the Commerce Building from 8:45 to 12:00. These tests are required of all new students and all those who have not taken them are urged to do so. By using the results of these tests, a counselor is aided in judging the student's aptitude for college work. The tests are not given for the purpose of determining whether a student may or may not be admitted to the fall term.
Counselling Week will be held during the week of September 9-12 and Registration will be on Monday, Sept. 15. Classes will begin Sept. 16.

A steel fabricating plant, employing about 15 persons is being established at 3342 Cerritos ave., Los Alamitos, by M. W. Stromberg of Los Angeles.

TRANSITION—Anaheim population kept increasing as the stork brought 11 bundles of ivy to bless the homes of David Willis, Ray Hawes, Thomas Todd with baby boys. Girls were left with the following: Kermitt Thomas, William Horton, Hal Classen, Freddie Yarra, A. E. Smedker, Leon Ferguson, Paul Doron and Frank Christian households ... Hal Rice and Joan White got a marriage license while death claimed Dr. Thomas A. Miller, 81, who had come to Anaheim to retire two years ago.
