NEUBAUER
... Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.... Matt. 10:16.
HOLIDAY — The big Labor weekend begins tomorrow night.
It is another call to the open road.
Anaheimers, like many other Americans, will take to the highways and blays. Some of them are bound to get hurt; others may not come home alive.
The accident frequency rate increases on such big holiday weekends; so if you plan to go anywhere plan to come home. Drive carefully. Respect the other's rights and hope he respects yours.
Take your time, you're in no hurry to visit the mortician. He'll wait.
Be alert! Watch the other fellow. There's always somebody on the highway who thinks he can handle his car a little better than all the others. There's always someone who is impatient and can't wait.
PROGRESS — Anaheim's main thoroughfares are being improved. But, wouldn't it be a bigger improvement if a truck route around town were found?
LINES-O-TYPE — Otto Idso, the packing house boss, looked real purty posing for a color shot beside one of those lush green trees across the street from his country place ... Hunt Foods ball team—Anaheim city league champions—are making a bid for the regional softball title. William Spencer even went so far as to
Hull is one of Anaheim's better known egg men. Isn't it funny that there are no butter-and-egg men around town. Most of the poultry and dairymen we know have to work for it, rather than spend it ... Herb Hamilton is one of Louis Pasteur's greatest boosters. Herb, y'see pasteurizes and homogenizes dairy products .... Incidentally, didcha know that the great French scientist actually wanted to come to Anaheim at one time. According to the ancient and mildewed records, Pasteur was greatly interested in the "strange disease" that killed Anaheim's vineyard. He not only was interested; he did something about it. He found a remedy for nematodes ... Mrs. Joe Del Giorgio is spearheading the drive against the incorporation of Buena Park farm lands into the proposed new incorporated city limits.
SIGNALS — When will they ever get signals at Orangthorpe and Lemon? They'll be installed in February or March, 1953, even though they're needed NOW. Who'll shoulder the responsibilities for the accidents on that corner until then? Who'll console those who are injured and who'll sympathize with those who might be killed?
NITECAPSULE — Nobody ever cheated death, friend; if you're going on an outing over the holidays be careful. That's better than being sorry.

PROGRESS — Anaheim main thoroughfares are being improved. But, wouldn't it be a bigger improvement if a truck route around town were found?
LINES-O-TYPE — Otto Idso, the packing house boss, looked real purty posing for a color shot beside one of those lush green trees across the street from his country place . . . Hunt Foods ball team-Anaheim city league champions—are making a bid for the regional softball title. William Spencer even went so far as to postpone one of his games with Duane Winters' Packers to make the tournament play possible . . .
Jerry Kehr, the Buena Park recreation director, has been tapped by Uncle Sam'. He's vacationing before he serves his hitch . . .
Lupe Gonzales left for Sacramento without letting his junior Legion ball players know it. They counted on him for the La Palma park tourney title bid . . .
Joe Avtla is still debating whether to go to school in Fullerton or at Fremont . . . Harold Mieger was upset the other day when he received a phone call saying that his son, Don, had broken a leg. It wasn't that bad—just a bad sprain. But it really scared the personable meat cutter.
PASSING — Another orange grove is being uprooted on Raymond ave. Orcharding ain't what it used 'tbe.
MUSING—Elbert Duran says he's used to taking his lickings. He used to be an Olympic auditorium main eventer. It's no novelty for him to watch his softballs lose. "All I care, is that the boys play a good, clean game," he said . . . Jimmy Smith is one Anahelmer who keeps up with the trends of events. Any tonsorial artist does, y'know... Arval Morris is getting his Electra Motors sign repainted. The president of the Anaheim industrial concern was Fullerton college student body prexy 20 years ago . . .
