Salvation Army Requests Clothing For Children
Anticipating heavy demands when school reopens, the Salvation Army social service center serving this Southern California area is making a very necessary and urgent appeal for all kinds and sizes of children's wearing apparel.
Brig. Ranson D. Gifford, manager of the center, said discarded clothing donated by local residents can be refurbished at the social service center and used to meet needs of families with limited incomes.
He said that three families with a total of 25 children had appealed to the center for assistance in the past few days.
"We went to their rescue-and from our very limited supply of needed items supplied their most pressing needs," he said.
He is asking local residents to telephone 4631 to bring a Red Shield truck to home or office to pick up discarded articles.

Egyptian Premier Sees Resumption Of Suez Talks
CAIRO, Egypt (F.)—Premier Ali Maher says he expects to open talks with Britain about the Anglo-Egyptian dispute over the Suez canal zone and the Sudan in three months—after he has cleaned up the "economic mess" in Egypt and prepared for new elections.
The premier told a news conference last night that, in setting a tentative date for formal talks between the two countries, he hopes conditions in Egypt will be returned to normal by that time.
His announcement of a delay in formal negotiations did not dampen optimism in official diplomatic circles over possible growing cooperation between Egypt and the west. Rather, the delay was looked on as an indication that unofficial diplomacy

Mabee won his first national championship in eight years of competition with a 95 score out of a possible 100. His two nearest competitors scored 93 each.
The elated Mabee wired back that he won in spite of a wind that was blowing a stiff breeze.
Mabee's nearest previous approach to a national championship was a second place in wet fly casting at Ft. Worth some time ago.

His announcement of a delay in formal negotiations did not dampen optimism in official and diplomatic circles over possible growing cooperation between Egypt and the west. Rather, the delay was looked on as an indication that unofficial diplomatic contacts between Egypt and Britain are making headway.
The Egyptians repeatedly have demanded that Britain withdraw from the canal zone and Sudan. The British have sought a joint defense system for the canal and insisted that the Sudanese must determine their own future government.
Cairo newspapers, meanwhile reported that talks soon will be started aimed at setting up a middle eastern defense system in cooperation with the west and other middle east countries. In this connection the press reported the U.S. and Britain are preparing to extend military and economic assistance to Egypt.
The newspaper reports lacked any sort of official confirmation.

President Makes Plans for Rest,
Library, Talks After Retirement
YORK (UP)—Harry S. Truman's presidential plans are the inauguration of his successor on a near his boyhood home view, Mo., "take a good deal then help educate the country on the principles of their government."
President's program is out of issue of Look Magazine tomorrow. The magazine effect quotations were applied to the White House before.
Egyptian Premier Resumption Suez Talks
Egypt (UP)—Premier Aly says he expects to open in Britain about the Antian dispute over the final zone and the Sudan months—after he had up the "economic mess" in Iraq prepared for new elec-
Premier, told a news contrast night that, in setting date for formal talks with two countries, he conditions in Egypt will be normal by that time. Encouancement of a delay in negotiations did not dampen in official and diplocies over possible growth between Egypt west. Rather, the delay on as an indication official diplomatic publication.
Truman, according to Look, has told a friend:
"When I ride to the Capitol with my successor, whoever he is, next Jan. 20 and see him swern in and congratulate him, I'm coming straight back to the White House, close my suitcase—I'll already have it packed—and the next stop is Grandview, Missouri."
He added, "I don't want and I don't intend to hang around Washington trying to tell the next man how he ought to run his job. If he wants me, I am always ready to serve my government and the people. He can call on me. But my plans are to establish the library, take a good rest, and then help educate the youth of this country on the history and principles of their government."
The president told the unidentified friend he was "setting aside 60 acres of the farm for a library site, and I'm going to transfer all of my papers out there."
"I've got more private papers than any other president in history, tons of them," he is quoted as saying. "I'm going to set up a library foundation. I expect to speak and write a lot, on history and government. I'd like to talk to high school juniors and seniors. They are sharp and eager to learn."
In an article accompanying the presidential quotation, the magazine says the library, to be called the Harry S. Truman Library, will contain private and official papers of his administration, books, memabilia including the thousands of gifts which have come to the White House.
