3 Anaheim Gazette TUESDAY, JULY 16, 1920 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Social and Club Activities Pat Terrebonne — 2208 Reception for Philip Selfridges 25th Anniversary The Rev. and Mrs. Philip R. Selfridge were honored Sunday afternoon in the YMCA building on their silver wedding anniversary. More than 200 members and friends of the Evangelical United Brethren church attended the affair, in charge of Miss Mildred Mauerhan, Mrs. Merle Odegaard, Mrs. Elsworth Kirkelle, Miss Alice Zahl, and Miss Anna Claire Mauerhan. Centering the table was a three tiered wedding cake decorated in silver and white with pink rosebuds. Pink glaadiolus and white phlox were used in decorating the hall. Guests were welcomed by Mrs S. J. Schauer, Mrs. Irene Keller and Mrs. W. C. Mauerhan. Mrs Howard Pannier, Mrs. Alfred Holve, Mrs. Louis Hamann, Mrs Arthur Korn were in charge of serving punch, and the guest book was passed by Dixie Selfridge, daughter of the honorees Serving cake were Mrs. Maylor Hamann, Mrs. Albert Peter Fall Benefit Planned by Pan Hellenic Northern Orange county Pan-Hellenic league met yesterday at the home of Mrs. Harry Rainey, 760 N. West st., for a potluck luncheon. Plans were formulated for the fall benefit Sept. 13 at Sunny Hills. The affair will be a brunch. Vice President Mrs. James Carter presided in the absence of the president, Mrs. Charles Peterson. Assisting the hostess were Mrs. R. Kenton Wines and Mrs. M. W. Little. Attending from this city were, the Mesdames Coalson Morris, Cleanor Mittman, Walter Studalter, Gordon Solness, James Carter, Harry Rainey, J. W. Stephen, R. Kenton Wines, C. B. Neighbors, M. W. Little, Leonard Bouas and Burt Arnold. Birthday Party For Carmen Sesma Miss Carmen Sesma, 313 W. Guests were welcomed by Mrs S. J. Schauer, Mrs. Irene Keller and Mrs. W. C. Mauerhan. Background wedding music was presented to the couple as a gift from the church. Presentatic was made by Alfred Holve, member of the board of trustees. Members of the family in attendance were Mrs. Maylon Hamann, Mrs. Albert Peter, Miss Dixie Selfridge, and Don Selfridge. Tom Selfridge, serving overseas in the armed forces, was unable to be present. Olive Notes Mrs. William Whitaker of Orange, nee Jeanette Navara, w entertained with a post nuptial shower Thursday evening in the Henry Timken home in Olive by Mrs. Richard Ristow, Mrs. Robert Burdg, and Misses Juliane Timken. Doreen Timken and Barbara Lemke. Arrangements of pink carnations and shasta daisies were used for decorations in the living room of the home and the gifts were placed in a large pink wishing well. After the many gifts were opened and donors thanked by Mrs. Whitaker, the guests played "50" with Mrs. Gilbert Krage winning the first prize and Mrs. Gordon Gerdes the consolation award. Centerpieces on the card tables when refreshments of strawberry torté and coffee were served were pink wishing well buckets filled Birthday Party For Carmen Sesma Miss Carmen Sesma, 313 W. Elm st., was honored this week at a festive patio party in the home of her parents on the occasion of her 18th birthday. The honoree received many lovely gifts during the evening. Refreshments of salad, hot dogs and all the trimmings were served. Attending were Winifred Stehly, Charles Lawrence, Joan Dornick, Lynn Packer, Louise Galagher, Dorothy Huarte, Frank Novarro, Joe Huarte, Shannon Doan, Elvera Navarro, Genny Noan, Richard Kumerson, Joan Lehr, Mrs. Ed Bain, all of Anaheim, as well as many out of town guests. Unique Food Booth at County Fair Women of the home department the Orange county farm buau are busily preparing to connect their unique food booth at the Orange county fair. Aug. 13-17, according to Mrs. Earl Laux, chairman of the countywide organization. Different from many other eating establishments in this cooperative venture which utilizes several scores of women in the county in preparing and serving food at the booth. Already there have been issued rations to many women who will deliver the cooked goods at appointed times for use during the five-day run of the fair, plus two days before the event opens and one afterward. Mrs. Laux stresses the fact that the booth is being set up largely for the service its performs. A special effort is being made to provide wholesome food for the young people who will be show- were placed in a large pink wishing well. OLIVE—The study hour of the Olive branch of the Orange county library will be held this week on Thursday, July 17, in the civic center at 2 p.m. All children are invited to attend by Mrs. Alice Maxwell, librarian. Mrs. Keneally of the county library will read and tell stories to the children. OLIVE — Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lemke of Santa Ana canyon last week were Mrs. Adolph Kessel, John Kessel and his daughter, Betty, of Philadelphia, Pa. While in the Southland, the Kessels enjoyed meeting their cousins, Herman Lemke, Robert Lemke, Henry Lemke, Mrs. William E. Paulus, Mrs. Jake Timken, and William Lemke and their families and members of the late August Lemke, Ben, George, Arthur, Emil and Edwin Lemke, Mrs. Walter Timken and Mrs. Henry Henning. The easterners were entertained at dinner in the homes of their relatives and taken on many sightseeing trips throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties. Mr. Kessel who is an agent for the FBI, his mother and daughter, will return to their home via San Francisco, the Redwoods and Yellowstone.
