Two-Year Charter Granted Here
Anaheim Girl Scout Council this week received its two-year charter, granted by the national Girl Scout organization. Charters are given to councils on the basis of volume of membership, number of volunteer leaders, number of troops, and quality of program provided for girls of the area.
According to Mrs. Conan W. Gray, president, "Girl Scouting in Anaheim has grown since its first charter was granted in 1939 to a current membership of 995." Stress is being placed on such activities as camping, overnight, day, and summer camping, community life, civil defense, health and safety, homemaking, arts and crafts, international friendship and recreation, as part of the organization's effort to give both practical and psychological skills that will help them weather the uncertainties and stresses of life in the modern world.
The new charter, signed by the national president, Mrs. Roy F. Layton, is granted in the name of the Girl Scout national board of directors. It not only authorizes the council to promote and carry on Girl Scouting in its prescribed jurisdiction — Fat Terrebonne — 2206

Daily vacation Bible school will be held July 28 through Aug. 1. The annual Sunday school picnic will be Saturday, Aug. 2.

The Jr. and Sr. High American Sunday school union will also be at Pine Valley, Aug. 4-11 for young people from 11½ to 20, at $9.50.
The new charter, signed by the national president, Mrs. Roy F. Layton, is granted in the name of the Girl Scout national board of directors. It not only authorizes the council to promote and carry on Girl Scouting in its prescribed jurisdiction, but also entitles it to have delegates to the National Council, Girl Scouts of the USA which determines the organization's policies and procedures.

RAYMOND AGHAYAN
Playbox Has Noted Director
Tustin Playbox is fortunate to have Raymond Aghayan as director—designer for its eight weeks of summer stock which opens July 15 with 3-act farce-comedy by Moliere.
Aghayan was born in Iran. He started designing at the early age of fourteen. This was because his mother belonged to the same profession. Therefore Aghayan, brought up in the same atmosphere, was ready for work so early in life.
After some time on the Continent and a summer in Paris, where he studied with Louis Jouvet, a French actor, Aghayan arrived in Hollywood in the spring of 1947. It was then that he discovered that he was as gifted in playwriting and directing as in acting and designing, and since then he has been following a career in all four branches.
Mr. Aghayan has directed such plays as "Hamlet," "L'Aiglon," "Candida," and "Miss Julia," and designed costumes for such plays as "Summer and Smoke." "The Madwoman of Chaillot," "Faust," "Joan of Lorraine," Shakespeare's

RICH FLAVORED POT roast and the boneless chick.
ROAST.—Next to a steak, the most pleasant sight on a dinner table might be a rich flavored pot roast.
Both beef and veal make splendid roasts. Look for the best quality veal, characterized by its light grayish pink color and fine grained velvety texture. Suitable for veal pot roast is the blade roast from the shoulder, the rump which can be boned and rolled and the heel of the round which is wedge-shaped and boneless.
The beel of the round of beef can be pot roasted to excellent advantage as can a rolled rump, the O-bone roast, the blade bone and writer, will serve as master of ceremonies at the night fashion shows.
The exposition will feature 282 separate items of wearing apparel, ranging from hats to shoes for both male and female. In addition, 15 other classifications of textiles will be up for the judges consideration.
Besides the blue ribbons and gold medals, a special award and a sweepstakes award will be announced at the conclusion of the judging. The special award will be made for garments especially designed for this exposition and not included in a designer's
In a heavy frying pan with a little fat, flouring the meat first. Transfer to a pan that has a tight-fitting lid, a heavy pan lid, a Dutch oven which holds the heat. Add a small amount of liquid and simmer slowly, closely covered, either on top of the stove or in the oven. Cooking time will probably be from forty to sixty minutes per pound.
Tomato juice used as the liquid will help tenderize the meat. If there is room in the roasting pan, take full advantage of the rich, meaty flavor by adding potatoes, carrots and onions during the last forty-five minutes of cooking time.
