MY BON BROUGHT THIS CHINESE BOOBY-TRAP FROM KOREA, AND I AM BOTHERED WITH A TERRIBLE HURGE TO TINKER WITH IT!
OUT-RATE PERSONAL PROBLEM CLINIC
COULD YOU KEEP IT FOR ME UNTIL I OVERCOME THAT CHILDISH IMPULSE?
NOW IT WILL BE SAFE FROM 'TAMPERING FINGERS!'
BUT, SHERIFF! WHY DID YOU SHOOT AT PEOPLE AND STEAL PIGGY BANKS?!
I BEEN SHERIFF O'LUK COUNTY PER NIGH ON TO THIRTY YEARS, SUSIE SCROGGINS, AN' WE AIN'T EVER HAD A CRIME WAVE!
I GOT SO BORED I DECIDED TO START A CRIME WAVE MYSELF!
I DIDN'T REALLY HURT ANYBODY, BUT NOW I'M A CRIMINAL --- AN' I GOTTA TAKE TH' RAP!
LERA! WHAT'S GOIN' ON?!
ASTAR'S PLANETARY PATROL IS LIKE YOUR COAST GUARD...OF SPACE, SCORCHY!
"SEMPER PARATUS..."
"ALWAYS READY!"
FOR A FIGHT! FOR RESOUE, OR...
CORCHY SMITH
AND D' DOOR OPENS AUTOMATIC! BUT, SHARK, WHAT IF DAT GANG...
HOP IN! AFTER I PULLS DIS SWITCH, D' GARAGE BEGINS TO FILL UP
...HAS SOME ODDER WAY TO ESCAPE FROM "SNORKHOUSE"?
ONE MORE PLUNGE AND THEN IT'S BACK TO THE TYPEWRITER, PATSY!
BET YOU NEVER HAD THIS MUCH FUN COLLECTING STORM MATERIAL BEFORE, NUK?
HOT DOGS
OH, DA-A-AD! ARE YOU EATING AFTER MEALS AGAIN!?
I'M SORRY, DIANA. I KNOW IT'S A BAD HABIT, BUT I JUST CAN'T SEEM TO BREAK MYSELF OF IT.
JEEPERS — IT'S SO EASY TO BREAK YOURSELF OF A SIMPLE HABIT LIKE THAT—
OH, DIANA
GOSH...IF LAKE WANNAPASSASCOBY IS ANYTHING LIKE YOU SAY IT IS I'M FOR SPENDING OUR VACATION THERE!
...I'LL TALK IT UP TO MYRA!!
YOU'LL NEVER REGRET IT EXCEPT YOU'LL NEVER WANT TO GO ANYPLACE ELSE!! WHAT A SPOT!!
PETERS IS SOLD!! WE ONLY QUESTION REMAINING UNANSWERED SEEMS TO BE "IF IT IS SUCH A HEAVEN WHY HASN'T HE HEARD OF THIS GARDEN SPOT BEFORE?"

"Hey, Lem!" the now familiar voice interrupted. "You wouldn't have a belt I could use?"
"Just look around in one of the stalls. There ought to be a spare belt."
A few minutes later: "Think there's a pair of shoes I could wear this afternoon?"
"There might be..."
Finally, Lemon handed his line-up to Don Mleger and told him to give it to one of the ex-Anaheimers—Joe Mene, Lee Kavanagh or Al Schnoor—who are assisting him in running his ballplaying enterprise.
"Guess I'll put on my suit and go out and pitch a couple rounds of batting practice," Lemon said as he headed for his stall locker.
Like Old Mother Hubbard's bupboard, it was bare.
"Jeepers!" the genial, good-natured guy exclaimed. "Wha happen?"
He looked at the young Anaheimer. "Say, turn around!"
The kid did. He had put on Lemon's suit. There was nothing for the manager to do but put on a tattered, discarded Junior Legion ball suit for his workout. And that he did.
SURVEY — Anaheim women have a tough problem trying to make both ends meet, according to our Gal Friday who's tabulating early returns from the Gazetteer's latest questionnaire. No use kiddin', these are trying times on the family budget.
LINES-O-TYPE—Don Hudson is out of the Fresno lineup. Cracked knuckles from a line drive against a fence. "I like baseball, it provides greater opportunity than working," he said, commenting on the national pastime.
Tony Padilla, La Habra's greatest protege since the great Jesse Florez, the guy who went to the top the hard way, may have to have an operation on his foot. "Got a bone splinter," he said as he watched his little brother, Phil, play ball. "They're going to operate so I can play next year." That was a tough break. No kid-

No kidding... Don Maxson, the boiler-maker, could-a hurt himself. He fell off of a 25-foot ladder and shook up his equilibrium... Wonder if Nathaniel Taft is for Ike? ... Jim Callucci moved to Anaheim when the furniture factory was going to establish its headquarters here. Now he commutes between here and Fullerton so he can work for Charles Ferguson, furniture builder and former furniture company executive.
GOPOLITICS — Anaheimers are eyewitnesses to history in the making now that they are able to TVview proceedings in Chicago in their own back yard... It wasn't so long ago that a lot of influential and distinguished Anaheimers waited in front of Earle T. Jackson's store for the Ellay papers so they could read MacArthur's speech... "It was awake-inspiring," one prominent businessman said, "to see such a great man deliver his address on television, but I want to get a text of it so I can study it." ... Well, then, friends, GOP President Herbert Hoover gave the GOparty a shot in the arm with his great address the other night.
