Anaheim Gazette MONDAY, JUNE 23, 1952 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Social and Club Activities Pat Terrebonne — 2206 Anniversary of Lois Rebekah Lodge Observed at Impressive Meeting Here Over 200 members and guests were present for the 50th birthday anniversary of Lois Rebekah Lodge at a meeting held here Friday evening. Honored at the session were president, Ethel Garner; vice president, Rose Hake; secretary, Mary Rewcastle; treasurer, Francis Cox; marshal, Erna Fream; inside guardian, Martha Frances; outside guardian, Ellen Thomson; trustee, Viola Rice; committee members, Evelyn Evans, Agnes Altnordhoff, I. Bradshaw, Pauline Lail, Charlotte Taylor, Audrey Ratkovitch and Grace Roth, all officers of the Rebekah Assembly. Others include Ade E. Madison, Nellie Gartin, Florence Bonetts, Jeannie Mae Annin, Frank Gowan, Henry Mang, Arnold Howard, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Beatty of North Dakota; Everett Freams, musician of Grand Lodge of California; Francis Williard, past grand treasurer of Nevada; and Barbara Myers, district deputy president. Katherine Crist, noble grand of Lois lodge, gave the address of welcome and invocation was given by Susan Benbrook. Janice and Sandra Maybee gave a musical selection playing the marimba and the accordion. The history of Lois lodge compiled by Henry Mang, was read by Violet Thierfelder, vice president, and was followed by a talk on its founding by past president, Ade E. Madison. Also introduced on the program were Mamie Hodges, Ethel Garner, Everett Freams, Henry Mang, Arnold Howard, Gary and Karen Thueson, Marjorie Cranston and Edith Schuman. Two living charter members, Olga Beebe and Hattie Spencer, were not able to attend. Maddie Gates has been a member of Lois for 48 years; Hannah Horwitz, 44 years and Maude Adams for 40 years. Escorts of the flag were Colonel C. R. Nelson, captain, Mel Reynolds and Captain C. C. Horn, members of Canton No. 18. Cook dried beans in the water in which they were soaked, allowing about one quart of water to cover about two cups of beans. Cook the beans slowly until they are tender—about an hour and a half. An exquisite princess gown chantilly lace over slipper tulle was worn by the bride. The skirt spread to a court train, the high neckline was accented with a Peter pan collar. A dress of the same dainty lace she carried a bouquet of stems notis centered with a white chid. Ruggles Richards, the bride brother-in-law, gave her in a plage. Matron of honor, Mrs. Rug Richard, the bride's sister, a mint green gown with a ruffle fitted bodice and full skirt. On her hair was a braid net halo, holding a short nylon veil and cluster of blending stems. She carried lavender cautions. Bridesmaids, Mrs. E Jones, Miss Shirley Schmitz, James Schmitz and Mrs. R Johnson wore nylon gowns in child pink and carried dark or carnations. James Schmitz was best and ushers were Don Yarbrough Don Liebart, Charles Kane Gilbert Martinez. Sandra Bonner, dressed in miniature version of the bride's gowns and carrying a ket of pink rosebuds, was floral girl. An all white setting was altar background for the door ring service, Father Paul Feffofficiating. "Ave Maria," "On This Day Beautiful Mother," and "Oh I Am Not Worthy," were sunduets by Miss Nancy Groff Mrs. John Boeka with Mrs F. Faust at the organ. Canton Holds Military Drill The Annual Field Meet of the 4th Regiment of Patriarchs Militant and Ladies Auxiliary was held in Anaheim, with Ladies Auxiliary to Canton Santa Ana as hostess auxiliary. A Military Ball was held on Saturday evening at the Odd Fellows Temple and on Sunday the meeting began at 9:30 a.m., with Mrs. Della Reynolds (of Anaheim) president of the auxiliary opening the meeting. Auxiliary members taking part during the session were from Pomona, Los Angeles, San Pedro, Stockton, Riverside, Pasadena, Whittier, Diablo, Napa, and Santa Barbara and Santa Ana. Mrs. Tillie Gardner, president of the Department Association of Ladies Auxiliaries, of San Francisco, was instructing officer. Also present were Miss Lois Curtiss, vice president of Los Angeles, Mrs. Eva Oliver, of Stockton, secretary, and Mrs. Gertrude Clark, of Pasadena, past president. All were given escort honors and welcomed. Department Association officers present were Color Guard No. 1 Mrs. Carmelita Chellis, of Los Angeles; Color Guard No. 2 Mrs. Betty Haygood, of Whittier.
