LYNX TAKE FRESNO, 2-1
The Buena Park Lynx scored two runs in the second inning of its game with Fresno last night at Buena Park and went on to win the contest 2 to 1. The two teams will square off again tonight at the ball park, Eighth and Hanson, Buena Park, at 8:30.
The Lynx second inning uprising began when second baseman (or is it basewoman?) Carolyn Broady singled. Lu Mahoney sacrificed Broady to second and she went to third on a single by centerfielder Annabelle Lockabey. Lynx pitcher Tommy Slappey poked a fly ball to the outfield; Broady tagged up at third and scored after the putout.
To keep the scoring threat going, right fielder Joan Alsup singled, catcher Bobby McDaniels singled, and Lockabey scored. Alsup was thrown out at the plate trying to score on the hit, retiring the side.
The Rockets scored in the second when Kay Rich, the shortstop, poiled a homer with nobody on.
Carolyn Broaday and Joan Alsup picked up the Lynx other two hits, both singles.
Batteries for Buena Park were Slappey and McDaniels; for Fresno Alice Beresford and Betty Schlegel.

BILL SWEENEY'S steadily advancing Seattle Rainiers, an early season disappointment, beat Oakland the easy way, scoring five runs in the first inning and coasting in 6 to 2. Rookie Ronnie Mahrt couldn't get the side out and had to be relieved in the very first inning. The Rainiers combined four singles with two walks for their game winning rally.
Sacramento's Glen Elliott was in rare form as he pitched Joe Gordon's team to a 7 to 0 victory over San Francisco. Al Lien of the Seals matched him in a scoreless duel until the sixth, when the Sacs scored once, but he blew up in the seventh.
Seattle, in moving past Los Angeles in the standings, edged to within a half game of third place Oakland.
