Election Changes State Senate Battle; Assembly Gets 15 Juniors
CERAMENTO, (CNS)—While California primary affected state senate but little in the number of new faces, some exchanged in the assembly ensured, for in the lower house is a certainty of 15 new and the possibility of six.
The senate, three new men selected — Swift Berry, luminary of El Dorado County, who adds H. E. Dillinger, retired; Al Grunsky, Watsonville asman who went into the seat held by Senator H. R. Judah closed and John A. Murdy, Orange county, who succeeds Senator Clyde Watson, re-stand who defeated Assembly Speaker Sam L. Collins for both nominations.
One incumbent senator, Weybret, Monterey county, elonged by a November runoff, Weybret, (R) will be opposed by James E. Anett, Democrat.
Milled in grade crossing acci-since the Santa Fe's new commuter trains have replaced in operation. At inside Ballezar Sandoval, 28, Edward Lugo, 30, were killed when hit by a train 80 miles per hour. Rail-crossings are dangerous. The wig-wag wig wags out.
RTOPIX — Les Haney conti- to pitch Whittier to the revitalized National all league ... For the first ten years the Orange Lion-laren't atop of the Pacific Women's Softball league.
One additional runoff completes the senate battles. This is in the 27th district, Kings county, where Robert R. Rosson (R) and Robert I. Montgomery (D) both new candidates, will fight it out for the seat vacated by retirement of Senator Roy Cunningham.
THE ASSEMBLY, however, presents a different picture. It is a certainty that Republican domination of the house will continue, for 43 Republican seats are definite, compared to 20 sure Democrats. In the 17 seats which will be determined next November, the GOP expects at least half, and probably more.
Some of the real old-timers failed to receive both nominations at the primary election, and consequently must campaign until November for their seats. Among these is Earle Stanley, in Orange county's 74th district. Stanley (R) is opposed by Lester Van Taten-hove, (D).
Democrat Clayton E. Dills, Los Angeles, is challenged by Charles Forde (R), and another surprise vote was capture of the Democratic nomination in the 47th district, Pasadena, by Joseph L. Johnson, who will oppose veteran A. L. Stewart (R).
In Fresno, Wallace Henderson (D), incumbent will be challenged by George A. Schroeder (R). Shuffling of the assembly districts in San Francisco saw Assemblyman Ed Gaffney counted out of the picture, and in the new 24th district, George D. Collins, another veteran Democrat in the assembly, will fight it out with Samuel W. Wirkley (R).

Anaheim FFA·Boys Take Honors at Norwark Fair
Future Farmers from Anaheim Union High school dominated the judging in hogs, dairy and steers at the Los Angeles County Spring Fair and Festival held last Thursday.
IN THE SIXTH District, now represented by Assemblyman Francis Lindsay, the issue is in doubt. Lindsay at the last available count was only 23 votes ahead of Bliss K. Harper, who sought the Democratic nomination. The sixth district is slow in completing its returns because of the wide area involved, all of the central Sierra Neevada counties, and observers indicated the Lindsay-Harper issue will probably be decided by the absentee ballots.
Only one former assemblyman who sought re-election after a period of years of absence was named. He is Roy J. Nielsen, Sacramento, only Republican on the ticket, who handed a lacing to four Democrats who challenged his candidacy. Nielsen's total Democratic vote was within a few votes of the total received by all four of the Democrats. The other old-timers, Jake Leonard and Joseph Gilmore, San Benito and San Mateo, were defeated.
Possibility of a feminine addition was seen in Kern county, where J. W. Boehm (R) will contend with Dorothy M. Donohoe (D). For several sessions, Asembywoman Kathryn Niehouse, San Diego, has been the only woman in the house.

FJC Nursing Course Receives NAPNE Praise
Vocational (practical) nursing at Fullerton Junior College has received the official benediction of the National Association for Practical Nursing Education, reports Mrs. Oliver Morris, instructor at the junior college.
Accreditation by the NAPNE has been extended to the vocational nursing program and Fullerton, the first school in Orange county to offer the program. According to Mrs. Morris, this national recognition has been given to only a few schools in California.
Approval by NAPNE means that Fullerton's course of instruction and facilities conform to highest standards set by any state having laws governing training of practical nurses. California is now establishing licensing procedures for vocational nurses.
At Fullerton, the vocational nurse training program is a one-year course. It includes five months training at the college and Orange County hospital and seven months of supervised clinical experience at the hospital.
