For fifty people allow 1½ pounds of lump sugar and 1½ quarts of cream. A quarter pound of tea will make enough tea for fifty. Accompany this with five large lemons sliced thin. 15 your punch cups hold two-thirds of a standard measuring cup, two gallons will make fifty servings. When making sandwiches, often 2½ pounds of butter or margarine to spread one hundred slices of bread and allow one quart of filling for fifty finished sandwiches. Seven firm heads of lettuce will serve as the base for fifty salads. Ten quarts of potato salad serves fifty. If you allow three olives per person, buy three quarts. Six pounds of potato chips is a good round figure for fifty servings. To solve the dessert situation figure on four to five shortcakes per quart box of berries. Whip one quart of whipping cream for fifty rounding tablespoons of topping. Seven or eight quarts of brick ice cream serves fifty.
