For Results and Quick Anaheim Gazetteer by JOHN S. NEUBAUER He that is merry of heart hath a continual feast.—Prov. 15:15. A YEAR AGO TODAY—Dean Acheson declared that an extensive study was made for a blockade of the China coast. He admitted that the US had no UN backing. That was a year ago when the weather went on a binge over most of the USA. A big slash in car production was ordered as critical material was chanelled into defense. Capt. William L. Devinney of Santa Ana and M/Sgt. Charles Edwards, 32, of Buena Park, were reported killed in Korea. Mrs. Henry Menning, 76, of Laguna, was killed in a Laguna accident while Mrs. H. B. Pierce, 57, of Casper, Wyo., died following a Tustin crash. The county death toll was 52. Anaheim students report that the GI test was tough. The exemption examination is to be repeated June 16 and 30. Ralph Melia celebrated the arrival of a new daughter. Dorothee Flood Control Spending on Supers' Agenda Expenditures of flood control money will be up for discussion between city and county officials next Thursday, when the county supervisors hold a budget hearing on that item, having completed consideration of all other department budgets last week. City representatives have been notified by the supervisors that the flood control budget is set for hearing Thursday at 9:30 a.m. The Orange County League of Cities has complained that few flood control projects have been built despite a reserve of more than $1,000,000, and that the cities have not received an equitable share of expenditures. These complaints were recently aired before the county grand jury, which has not reported its findings. County supervisors responded to complaints from the cities by pointing out that flood control projects have been constructed on a long-range plan as rapidly as the engineering work could be completed. Donald Bauer married Beverly Moriarity... Mrs. Minnie Eaton, 58, died in her Anaheim home following an extended illness... Sportswise, Orange Hi was seeking a new football coach to replace Louis Tsousouvas who resigned to take over Clarence Schutte's post at Santa Barbara. Schutte resigned the Santa Barbara post which he held for 26 years to go into the Air Force as a colonel... That was the essence of last year's news. Remember? ELECTION DAY—Voted yet? If you haven't hurry down to the polls and use that little rubber stamp, it's your duty and your solemn obligation. Polls close at 7 p.m. INTERESTING — Today's GOP primary was an interesting one. Senator William Knowland, Oakland publisher, is seeking re-election; while Clinton D. McKinnon, San Diego Congressman, is his chief opponent. McKinnon, like Knowland, was a publisher. He started the Valley Times in North Hollywood with $250 capital. During the war he made a small fortune turning out "give away" weeklies—the Aviation Times (1940) and the Shipyard Times (1941) which were consolidated into the Industrial Times after V-E Day. Many Anaheimers remember those papers, though they may not connect the Democratic candidate for the Senate with them. Will Rogers, Jr., also turned out a similar paper, but it didn't catch on. Anaheimers, likewise, received a comic booklet—Mckinnon's clever campaign literature—last week. It County supervisors responded to complaints from the cities by pointing out that flood control projects have been constructed on a long-range plan as rapidly as the engineering work could be completed. If You Drink! Don't Drive ton justice of the peace, are after the $10,000 a year position created by last year's legislative act consolidating the small courts. Both are well known around Anaheim as both have been interested in civic and fraternal activities. The race between Supervisor Ralph McFadden and William E. Faulkner will also prove interesting in several respects. RECOMMENDATION — If you haven't voted, hurry down to the polls and do so pronto like. LEGAL NOTICES (Pub. Anaheim Gazette, May 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29; June 2, 3, 1952.) IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF KERN In the Matter of the Estate of BERNICE HIDART, Deceased. No. 11625 NOTICE OF SALE OF REAL ESTATE AT PRIVATE SALE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the undersigned, as Executor of the Estate of Bernice Hidart, deceased, will sell, at private sale to the highest and best bidder, upon the terms and conditions hereinafter mentioned, and subject to confirmation by said Superior Court, on June 10, 1952, at the hour of 10:00 of clock A.M., or thereafter within the time allowed by law, at the law offices of Mack & Blanco, at Room 100 Truxtun Avenue Building, 1197 Truxtun Avenue, Bakerfield, California, all right, title, and interest in the estate of sold deceased at the time of her death, and all right, title and interest the said estate has acquired by operation of law or otherwise, other than or in addition to that of said decedent at the time of her death, in and to the following described parcel of real property in the County of Orange, State of California, to wit: An undivided one half (½) interest in and to all right, title, and interest in and to the following described land situated in Orange County, California, EVCEPTING the North 17 acres thereof: Parcel 1. The West Seven Hundred Ninety-six (796) feet of a parcel of land bounded as follows: beginning at the Southwest corner of Section 36, in Township 3 South, Range 19 West, San Bernardino Base and Meridian, and running thence North 40 chains; thence East 39.13 chains to the center line of Placentia Avenue Yard Times (1941) which were consolidated into the Industrial Times after V.E Day. It was the most effective bit of campaign material to come out of the election. LOCAL INTEREST — Anaheimers are much more interested in the purely local aspects of the election. The 28th District's representative in Congress and the state and county offices to be filled. When the ballots are counted tonight, Sam Collins will probably be watching the tabulations with keen interest. For the first time since he was defeated by Harry Sheppard for the U.S. Congressional seat, he has a worthy opponent, John A. Murdy Jr., the Huntington Beach rancher, who is a strong contender for the State senator's berth vacated by Clyde Watson of Orange. ASSEMBLY — Anaheimers are also interested in this year's assembly race. LeRoy Lyon Jr., a serviceman and native Anaheimer, is opposing Glen McCloud, Frank Rospaw, the eminent Placentia publisher, and Richard White, general contractor. LOCAL—Of special interest is the election of a judge for the Fullerton-Anaheim Municipal court. John Shea, Anaheim township judge, and Lloyd S. Verry, Fuller- An undivided one half (%) interest in and to 'all right, title, and interest in and to the following described land situated in Orange County, California, EVCEPTING the North 17 acres thereof: Parcel 1: The West Seven Hundred Ninety-six (796) feet of a parcel of land bounded as follows: Beginning at the Southwest corner of Section 26, in Township 3 South, Range 10 West, San Bernardino Base and Meridian, and running thence North 40 chains; thence East 39.13 chains to the center line of Placentia Avenue as established by the Orange County Highway Commission; thence Southwesterly along said center line of Placentia Avenue 41.225 chains to the South line of Section 36; thence West 28.85 chains to the point of beginning, Orange County, California.
