Betrothal of Elaine Schumacher to Jack Golden Revealed at Open House
First to hear news of the betrothal of their daughter, Elaine Elizabeth, to Jack Ronald Golden of Santa Ana, were 100 guests received at an open house in the Jacob E. Schumacher home Saturday evening.
The message was carried in a large floral engagement ring bearing the names of the honored couple and centering the beautifully appointed tea table.
Miss Schumacher chose for the affair, a sheer gown of imported dotted Swiss with detail of hand painted and jeweled roses in varying shades. Her corsage was of orchids.
Mrs. Schumacher and Mrs. Golden wore navy blue with corsages of frosted pink roses.
A powder blue brocaded taffeta gown was worn by Miss Nelda Schumacher, sister of the bride, who assisted as hostess. A circle of cymbidium orchids was on her wrist.
The bride elect is a graduate Marywood High school and Inmaculate Heart college in Hollywood where she affiliated with Kappa Gamma Delta sorority and served as vice president of the student body.
Her fiance, son of Mr. and Mr. Walter C. Golden of 211 Buffalo st., Santa Ana, is a graduate Tulelake High school and of the University of Southern California where he was a member Chi Pi fraternity and the Troja Knights.
In Central America, banana plantations have gradually moved from the Caribbean side of the countries to the Pacific side because of the advance of soil disease.
