"Magnificent Obsession," the story that made Lloyd C. Douglas famous, will be presented as a three-act play Sunday evening by the M.Y.F. Footlighters at the regular seven o'clock service at White Temple Methodist Church. The popular novel has been dramatized by Frank Vreeland, and will be presented through arrangement with Walter H. Baker, Inc.
This represents the final production for this season by the Footlighters, who have already done "The Tinker" at Christmas time and "The Cup of Trembling" for Easter.
Major leads in the drama are played by Bill Davis and Myrna Lewellyn, with a supporting cast including Mary Dougherty, Don Brummet, Chuck Wiggins, Drusetta Martin, Mary Lou Love, Gordon Schwacofer, Roy Casey, Judy Belle Wicker, Nancy Ater, and Joe Dougherty. Rev. Frank E. Butterworth is the director. "This play," he states, "is a far cry from our recent Biblical production, 'The Cup of Trembling,' but represents our desire to train our youth in strong religious chacterizations in both ancient and modern settings."
At the 10:50 a.m. morning service, Rev. Butterworth will preach on "Looking Out the Window of the Upper Room"; a Pentecost Sunday message.

How the Christ, Truth, uncovers and destroys error will be discussed in the Sunday Bible lesson in all Christian Science churches on the subject "Ancieht and Modern Necromancy, alias Mesmerism and Hypnotism, Denounced." The Golden Text is from Isaiah (59:19): "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him."
This Christly promise is recorded by John in Revelation (3:20,21), "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne."
Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "The destruction of the claims of mortal mind through Science, by which man can escape from sin and mortality, blesses the whole human family" (p. 103).

"The Responsibility of Belief"
the message of Rev. Bob Kevei kian at the 11 a.m. service of the First Baptist church, Broadway at Citron. When one elims a lie in God there is an automatic response that is necessary on part if he is to be consisted Many individuals live self-custodious life, thinking themselves to be logical but living an unconscious paradox. Who are the necessities which go with belief? The morning worship will close with the celebration of the Lord's Supper.
"Do You Have Influence?" the subject of the 7:30 p.m. service. Many people feel that their lives belong to themselves and consequently can do with them as they wish. There is definite evidence to prove that this point view is a disastrous one and has no valid foundation. We as more creatures are responsible for the influence we exert, and we must make certain that our point view is consistent with God opinion.

Juan Capistrano; the Rev. Robert Burns McAulay, minister of First Presbyterian church of Orange; the Rev. Paul Clover Cox, minister of St. Andrew's Presbyterian church of Redondo Beach, and the Rev. Stanley Frederick George, minister of the Presbyterian church of La Crescenta and former minister of the local church. The Rev. Howard S. Congdon will deliver the sermon; the Chorister, Crusader, Chapel and Chancel choirs of the local church will present music under the direction of Mrs. George W. Sloop, Jr., minister of music. Mrs. William J. Talevich will be organist.
The unique condition of Mr. Wilson's ordination is that it is the first to be conducted in the local church in its entire eighty-two years. This seems rather proper, however, for the young man has many firsts to his credit. Ordained as an elder at eighteen, he was the youngest ever to be so acknowledged by his church. He was the youngest ever to be called to serve on the Session of the local church. He was also probably the youngest person ever called to direct the choir of his church.
