Name Six Parks And Beaches as Camping Spots SACRAMENTO, (CNS) — The state park commission has designated six beaches and parks in California as ten day camping spots for the 1952 season. Newton B. Drury, chief of the division, said these are the most popular recreation areas in the state park and beach system, and that the restriction is imposed to provide out-door recreation to a greater number of families than could otherwise be accommodated with present facilities. The restricted parks are: Richardson Grove, Humboldt county; D. L. Bliss State Park on Lake Taboe, El Dorade county; Armstrong Redwoods, Sonoma county; Seacliff and New Brighton beaches, Santa Cruz county; Carpenteria Beach, Santa Barbara county; Doheny and San Clemente beaches, Orange county. In addition, the park commission has established 15 day limits on 25 more state parks, and in the remainder of the parks, the limit will be at the regular 30 days. Drury said the state division of beaches and parks is doing its best to take care of the increased demand for camping and picnicking in the state parks by stepping up the acquisition program, and adding facilities where possible. He said, however, the park division must be careful "not to crowd developments to such an extent that the natural attractiveness of the parks is lost." L. A. (Dan) Patch, county disaster chairman, complimented the instructor, Miss Louise Thomas from the Southern Counties Gas company in Santa Ana, and the 33 women who took the canteen course, and said he was going to use the plan adopted by the Savanna Civil Defense Council, who are in charge of the canteen, and suggest all defense units in the county adopt the same procedure. Mrs. Ethel A. Korn, Savanna Red Cross chairman, and Mrs. Musette Burton from Los Alamitos Civil Defense unit, were introduced by Mrs. Florence P. Black, Savanna personnel officer. After thanking the women for organizing the canteen, Mrs. Korn announced the second First Aid class to be sponsored by the Savanna council will start June 10 at 1:30 p.m., in the Lions clubhouse with Mrs. Burton as instructor. Other special guests introduced by Mrs. Black were Fred Macomber, coordinator of the Los Alamitos Civil Defense and his Red Cross chairman, Mrs. Dorothy Hooper, Mrs. Fern Vipond, Savanna welfare chairman and Mrs. Geneva Casebeer, new canteen member. Refreshments were served by the Savanna Defense council with Mrs. Black, Mrs. Marjorie McBratney who is canteen chairman, Mrs. Vipond and Mrs. Marion Trantham, canteen member, as hostesses.
