County Ikes Set To Build Dams At Silverado Orange county Ikes will begin work on check dams in the Silverado creek Sunday morning, May 25. Members of the seven Izaak Walton League chapters in Orange county will continue their stream improvement program by building check dams in the creek to conserve the water and improve stream for fishing. Excellent fishing, experienced this year by local anglers in Holy Jim and Trabuco creeks, was a direct result of the stream improvement program carried on in those creeks by Orange county Board of Supervisors and the Izaak Walton League. Pools created by masonry and loose rock dams resulted in more fishable water which could be planted heavily by the State Fish and Game department. All Anaheim Ikes and other sportsmen are urged by Prexy Clint Flynn to meet at the upper end of the road in Silverado Canyon at 9 a.m. on Sunday, to take part in this project. Some additional crowbars and shovels will be needed. MORE ABOUT... Railroads (Continued from Page 1) Commercial Telegraphers Union (CTU), have been on strike for 51 days. Under the terms, the earliest date for resumption of full COMMENTARY—Walt Lundsford isn't the least bit sorry that Thomas Stanley's "executive council" vetoed him. "I've been teaching 16 years," he said, "and I've never been as surprised as I was today when I was given a substantial salary increase. I've been on an industrial concern's payroll less than two months and am making more than I ever could in the teaching profession." Walt really is sold with his new job as Hal Chandler's right-hand man. And y'can't blame the man. PROMOTION—Paul M. Dollard tendered his resignation as head of the Daystrom Corporation's Fullerton operation to become a member of the parent company's Elizabeth, N. J., home office, Thomas R. Under the terms, the earliest date for resumption of full-scale telegraph service would be Monday. EVEN THOUGH a strike of oil industry pipeline and refinery workers neared an end today, shortage of aviation gasoline became more serious. Commercial air lines announced drastic reductions in flights. Airlines asked Secretary of the Interior Chapman to decontrol aviation fuel in view of the spreading contract settlements. Fred Kaye, Montrose fern culture authority, will be the speaker May 27 at 8 p.m., American Legion hall, Anaheim, when the Orange county branch of the National Fuchsia society holds its regular meeting. E. Hedrick will give his monthly talk on "Know Your Fertilizers." The public is invited. For Health. Eat California Pruit Anaheim did get another fine industrial payroll when the Dixie Cup people took over the plant. VIGNETTE—Jerry Oswald, the highway patrol's personable driver's license examiner, has some interesting experiences in his business. He has worked in Long Beach, Compton and Los Angeles besides Santa Ana. It was in the Ellay office that the former Army officer had one of his most unusual experiences. The way he tells it: "A great big colored woman came in for a license one day. She passed her written test and was assigned to me for a road test. I followed her out to the curb. She had a spanking new, yaller Cadillache. She got in behind the wheel and I said." Political Advertisement LERoy E. LYON As Your 75th Dist. ASSEMBLYMAN QUALIFIED Attorney at law; Sen. POLITICKING — The Orange County Democrats might do well if they borrowed a page from the Republican campaign book. When the Hon. Estes Kefauver came through on his recent stumping tour, the natives in the hinterlands didn't get much of a break. When Candidate Wendell Wilkie did likewise, everyone turned out. Kefauver is a man Anaheimers like bestest after Ike. Anyhoo, it seems to us that the Democrats did the GOP politicians a favor by keeping Estes under wraps while he was in this Republican stronghold. The man has a magnetic personality, y'know—he has a magnetism for vote pulling. NITECAPSULE — The guy who yells his head off for justice usually wants it if it applies to himself. Stanton Chamber of Commerce met and a report from the January of Los Angeles, subdividers, or proposed housing project sapman and Highway 39 for three bedroom homes. Tied for second and third place in the audience balloting were Henry F. Ochoa, 22, blues singer and Karl W. Jaeger, 15, drummer and baritone. Dubbs. Leon Belasco, guest movie actor and TV star proved to be a hit with his masterful comedy routines and characterizations in rendering "Tico Tico" and impersonating the trials and tribulations of a disc recording. Called back for an encore he responded with a light comedy number "I'm the Man Who Invented Bubbles." Last week's winners Judy Fink and Roxey Martin were featured in "Perfidia" a number they did equally as well as their winning duette "Wheel of Fortune." "Talent Time" is staged every Wednesday night at the Fox Theater. Contestants wishing to try out for next week's show are asked to file entry blanks at the Fox theater box office or at the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce.
