Since the support of churches in their spiritual aims is one of the cardinal points of emphasis of this service club throughout the United States and Canada, it was felt by the local club that no finer way of implementing this program could be found than by urging every Kiwanian and his family to attend the church of their choice on Sunday morning, and then to join together at an evening service and let the men tell exactly what the church and its ideals have meant to them as business and professional leaders in the community. The Kiwanis orchestra will open the service with a 15 minute concert at 7. Tommy Thomason, YMCA secretary, will direct a song service. President A. J. Schutte will preside. Frank Gibbs will deliver the invocation, and the Kiwanians will be welcomed to White Temple by the pastor, Rev. Frank E. Butterworth, who has himself been a Kiwanian for 10 years. Oswald Stock will offer a trombone solo, Frank Kellogg, dean of men at Anaheim Union High school and former lieutenant governor of this district of Kiwanis International will speak on Stanton Community. West st., oil company engineer, has been named Orange county chairman of the John Steiger 28th Congressional district campaign. Heinz is a graduate of Cal Tech and a native Anaheim. Steiger, in making the announcement, said the choice of Heinz as chairman here follows the emphasis he is placing on getting younger men into the government. In accepting the appointment, Heinz said, "I'm supporting John Steiger because of his intelligent and realistic approach to the problems of the day. He is young enough (32) to serve the citizens of Orange county during the best and most active years of his life." Steiger is a public administration graduate of Stanford University and is operating his own real estate and insurance business. Alamitos Friends The Alamitos Friends church in Garden Grove are inviting people of all faiths to an open discussion of the Vatican attitude toward its Protestant Ambassador, Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Paul W. Travis, Rome correspondent for the Christian Herald and Lutheran magazines, who gained two interviews with Pope Pius and received the Pope's medal bestowed on visitors, will act as narrator for the documentary colored film he took during his four trips to the Eternal City. Pictures throughout the Vatican will be exhibited, including the Vatican Palace, Museum, Chair of St. Peter, St. Peter's church and the Vatican army, also the building being prepared for the new Ambassador to the Vatican will be shown. Anaheim Chamber Enters Float "Childhood Memories" is the theme of the Buena Park Home Town Day Parade. Following this theme, the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce has entered a float "Playing Cowboys and Indians." The float designed to represent the corral of a ranch, has a cast of three characters interpreting the theme. Gwen Keithley portray the part of an Indian maiden. Mar Ilena Burns and "Butch" Barrington play the part of young cowboys. The float was designed and built by Ralph Spencer, of Robins Sign Service. A unique feature of the float is that it's motive power is supplied by a miniature garden tractor. Stanton Community The Rev. Charles A. White, pastor of the Stanton Community church, announces that, in answer to a letter sent out by the finance committee chairman, William Cornthwaite, $700 was sent in this week by parishioners enabling the building committee, headed by Harold Lovett, to start last Thursday night to enlarge the seating at 8 p.m. and dinner was served the men after dark. Saturday volunteer workmen will pour the cement for the foundation and floor of the vestibule. Dinner will be served by the Women's Missionary Society at noon.
