MODEST Trademark Register JAY ALAN SHE HIT ME FIRE TV-RADIOLOGIC Johnny Dugan Gains Popularity After Just a Week's Telecasting By TOM E. DANSON HOLLYWOOD — "With a kisser like this, what can you expect?" the Irish Johnny Dugan quipped at NBC photographer Emi Holloway who was using his best to get a good profile shot for a portrait photo. "You've got one or those Irish mugs too, Danson," Johnny added turning to this innocent onlooker. "You oughta appreciate my trouble when it comes to picture taking." (ED. NOTE: Sure go!) What the affable 25-year-old Dugan neglected to mention that his kisser actually is rugged, handsome, and as Irish as they come—a point that I can't count in, and a misnous voice skribbled from his singing father, has helped back him to stand on his own coast-to-coast program—"The Johnny Dugan Show," which made its debut this week as the summer replacement for KTLA Edwards. Johnny's show — a fast-moving hair-hour, using the very same crew of technicians and cameramen (along with producer-director Cal Howard) as the Edwards snow — features combinations of stunts, music, audience participation and comedy. It gets a big boost from the soio and quiet singing of Johnny and his lovely songstress, 15-year-old Baroara Logan. mother just flew in from Bergen: Think nothing you meet your mother port? It gets a big boost from the soio and quiet singing of Johnny and his lovely songstress, 15-year-old Baroara Logan. There was never any doubt about what career would be followed by young Johnny. From the age of four, when he charmed his mother's friends at a charity party who an impromptu rendition of "reggy O'Neill," Jugan was destined for snow business. During the next few years, he gathered experience and training by singing at other women's clubs, and in church choirs in and around Boston. An amateur contest launched Jonny in the radio field where he continued for several years, but at 18, the Broadway "Dug" started to bite, and he went to New York with a letter of introduction to Sammy Hausech, of the famed Roxy Theater. He walked in, met Sammy, sang three songs and started work the next day. He was going strong when the words "Pearl Harbor" hit every front page in the country, and for the next three-and-a-half years there was very little singing for Navy Gunner J. Dugan. After release, he came right back, for you can't keep a good Irishman down! THE GAG BAG ... Ray Noble: Sorry to be late, fellows, but my DIAL-LITES ... The can rough it in style with "Sgt.
