Social and Club Activities Pat Terrebonne — 2508 District Awards Presented at Final Meeting of Fremont P-TA for Year The last meeting of the year for Fremont Parent-Teacher Association was held in the school cafeteria, Tuesday afternoon with a large attendance. Mrs. Conan W. Gray, led the audience in the flag salute, with Miss Irene Holland, teacher, giving the spiritual thought for the afternoon. Mrs. S. L. Keith, program chairman, announced the program. The eighth grade girls modeled the clothing they made in sewing class under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. Virginia Palmeri. The stage was set in a scene "at the beach." Exhibits were displayed from the metal shop and wood shop classes, teachers W. A. Schmitt and J. L. Drennon. Mrs. A. E. Bourne, president, extended a welcome to parents of sixth grade students, who were special guests. Chester Fowler, principal, briefed the safety meeting of the Optimist club. He stated the rules for driving cars are the same for bicycle riding. Double riding on bicycles and riding on the sidewalk is prohibited. Bicycles will be checked at each school and parents notified if the bicycle is found unsafe to ride. Refreshments were served in the foods room to students who participated in the program. Mrs. Bourne and Mrs. Philip Bird presided at the tea and coffee urns. The refreshments of sandwiches and cookies were prepared by the seventh grade foods classes under the guidance of Mrs. Helen Snyder, teacher. They were assisted in hostess duties by room mothers from B-6 and A-7, Mesdames Ray Mallonee, Herman Schafer, Alex Jimenez and Frank Ferris, room mother chairman for next year. Janice Pullman Honored Queen of Job's Daughters Janice Pullman, daughter of the Donald K. Pullmans of 10881 Magnolia ave., was elected honored queen of Job's Daughters Bethel No. 5 Monday night. She will be installed June 14 to head the group for six months. Miss Pullman, a junior at Anaheim Union High, has just been named as editor in chief of the school annual, the Colonist, for next year. The Frank C. Harrington home at 1414 Richman Knoll will be shown by Mrs. Tom Phelps, assisted by Mrs. Duane Johnson Mrs. Orville Ramsey, Mrs. Earn Amott, and two Y-teen girls, Ann Harrington and Dorothy Kuchel. Mrs. Martin Lumsden will serve as main hostess at the R. J. Munzer home, 1429 Richman Knoll Her assistants will be Mrs. Ber Johnson, Mrs. Ray Vanderburg and Mrs. Jack Maschino. The H. H. Mrs. Max Hiltscher, ways and means chairman for next year, announced tentative plans are being made for ra carnival in October. She asked members to save "white elephants" and start plants for the green thumb booth. Room count was won by Mrs. Lucas, A-1, room. Escort honors of the evening went to Mrs. Tillie Ehrle, guardian, and Mrs. Donald Pullman, associate guardian, and past honored queens, Misses Mary Emerson and Eleanor Ausborn, and to members of the Guardian Council. Thursday night, May 22, from 6 to 8 o'clock, the girls will meet at Magnolia School No. 1 and form a ball team. The slumber party at the home of Mrs. Anna Blanmeyer in Orange was reported to have been a huge success. The remainder of the evening was spent folding papers for a paper drive, followed by refreshments with Mrs. Ehrle as chairman. Farm Bureau Executives Meet Executive board of Anaheim Farm bureau met at Lum's cafe last night for a turkey dinner. Present with the president and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph MaMuerhan, were Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pannier, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Freese, Mr. and Mrs. James Alderson, Mr. and Mrs. Al Holve. Mrs. Orville Ramsey, Mrs. Earl Amott, and two Y-teen girls, Annie Harrington and Dorothy Kuchel. Mrs. Martin Lumsden will serve as main hostess at the R. J. Y's Menettes Hear Barbershop Quartet Featured on the program of last evening's meeting of the Y's Menettes was the Girls' "Barber Shop Quartette" from the high school, directed by Sheldon Disrud. The second half of the program was devoted to Mrs. Nan Moore, Girls' Work Secretary of the Y in Anaheim, who spoke to the group on the activities and purpose of the Tri-Hi-Y. The Y's Menettes are going ahead with their project of preparing and serving the dinners for the Y's Men's Club at their twice-monthly meetings. Recently they were called upon to give the Mother and Daughter banquet at the Church of The Nazarene. Profits realized from such projects will be used to purchase additional kitchen equipment for the YMCA, and to assist in sending a girl to camp. Saturday night, according to Mrs. Edmund R. Cook, publicity chairman. Proceeds were $170. Lawrence Dunepp auctioned the baskets and Mrs. Mattie Lou Max-wel, principal of Magnolia No. 1 school, received a bottle of perfume Mrs. Brooks brought home from France last year, for the most beautifully decorated lunch box. The basket that sold for the highest amount was prepared by Mrs. Lee Haderlie. Homer Kirk, husband of the P-TA president, received the door prize of a huge basket of groceries donated by P-TA members. Bob Van Antwerp from the Long Beach recreation department called the square dancing. Special guests were from the Loara and Savanna P-TA associations and the Katella Parent-Teachers League. Music Festival At High School Friday Night Spring music festival at Anaheim High school, featuring the Mozart club and orchestra, will be held Friday evening at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium. Tickets are available from all Mozart members and will be on sale at the school on the evening of the performance.
