FACTUALLY—You're no spring chicken if you can remember the sinking of the Lusitania, May 7, 1915. That was an event that really electrified the world. VIGNETTE—A couple of Anaheimers opened the 1952 fishing season by hiking up Holy Jim canyon last Saturday morning. It was pite dark in the early predawn. They stumbled over the unfamiliar terrain, but they were determined. "Hey, Bud, where ya going?" a voice came out of the night. "Fishin'," the startled Anaheimer repaired as he made out the features of the game warden—a lad with whom he attended Anahi more years ago than he likes to remember. They talked for a while and then the fishermen moved on. While they were busily engaged in pulling in a record catch of trout, the game warden came up and asked: "How ya doin', Bud?" "Aw right!" was the reply. "Whatcha doin' way up here?" "Checking fishing licenses." "D'ya mean to say y'have a license to nisny!" the Anaheimer asked. The perplexed game warden gulped. "Yeah, you're s'possed t have a license." The Anaheimers kept right on fishing. The game warden was really perplexed. He'd hate to spoil his schoolday chum's outing by citing him for fishing without a license. He was glum. Just as "the big one" grabbed the hook, the Anaheimers nanded the game warden their license, but he never did get to scrutinize it as the big fish snapped the line. He undoubtedly was the best of his breed — cocker spaniel — in the county, but you'd never have guessed it. He was true blue—loyal, faithful and kind.
