Fraternal organizations followed churches. In October, 1870, the Masonic Lodge, F. and A. M. 207 was organized, and my grandfather was among the original members.
THE FIRE department was organized in 1872. It boasted a hook and ladder, buckets and a hand drawn truck plus a fire bell. The cost was $500. Anaheim's first bank, the Bank of Anaheim was organized in 1876. P. Davis and Brother organized their private bank then.
The pioneer press of Anaheim and of Orange county as well, was the "Anaheim Gazette," whose first issue was published October 29, 1870. The press used had been shipped around the Horn.
In 1875 the Southern Pacific Railway completed a branch to Anaheim and for nearly two years Anaheim was the terminus. Then it was extended to Santa Ana. In 1887 the Santa Fe built its road into Anaheim and at the same time the "boom" Hotel Del Campo, which cost $40,000 was built. TILLA-PRODUCTS
Known throughout the world, we began in Anaheim and we are proud to be a part of this fine city.
The first Tilla-Plows were made and designed for the orange grower but now are used in every State in the Union and also many foreign countries.
To supply the need for an implement that would ease the farmer's and rancher's labors, the Heavy Duty Tilla-Plow and the Tilla-Disc were put on the market.
These fine plows are a far cry from the old unwieldy tools used by the early Californians and we are happy to
