Chicksan center fielder, battled home run in the first inning, and the boys from Chicksan were aber hooded. In the third inning they scored again as Vern Ruth walked, Bud Cavin singled, Curry Stewart was safe on an error by Lloyd Trapp, the Lutherans' third baseman. Bob Ruther was on third to first, Jack Ruther was safe on an error, Doug Vandyk walked, Jack Russell fouled out to the catcher, and Chuck Shank was out on a fly to left field. All of this was good for two runs for the toolers. The Lutheran runs came in the sixth inning, as Walt Schmidt walked, Lloyd Trapp singled, Bob Dick walked, Steve Holden struck out for the first out, and the Dave Dick sent a ball to the pitcher and Walt Schmidt was forced out at home. Then with Jack Russell up to bat, Lloyd Trapp stole home. Russell then walked and with Cunduff up to bat, Dick came home on a wild pitch. Cunduff was hit by a pitched ball, but Taylor ended the Lutheran threat by flying out to the left fielder. Horace Mann's "A" team backed up no hitter by their pitcher Billy Larson with an eight hit and 17 run barrage on hapless Jefferson team yesterday on the loser's diamond. Horace Mann sent 15 men to bat in the first inning, and then was never in trouble. The outstanding performance was turned in by Horace Mann pitcher Billy Larson, who held his opponents to 14 hits and 20 runs, and the only man to get on abscission of fan was Billy Harker who worked him for a walk in the first inning, to spot a perfect pitched game. In the first inning Bob Garey walked, Clasey Scarewer walked, Billy Larson walked, Lupe De la Cruz walked, and Robert Godwin walked. Then Marshall Shirk struck out, Louis Aceata double, Gary Thorntop singled, and Ronald Stigley walked. Bob Garey, up for his second time in the inning, was safe on an error, by the second baseman, but was out when he tried to make it to second base on the play. Schrewer was then safe on an error by the catcher, and then Billy Larson singled across two runs. Lupe De la Cruz ended the inning when he was thrown out by the pitcher. Home runs were hit by Lupe De la Cruz, Marshall Shirk, and Gary Thornton. Peralta May Run in CIF San Diego Meet Alling Aaron Peralta dogged all season by a football leg injury, probably will win a berth on the Sunset League team for the CIF Southern Section track and field preliminaries to be held Saturday on the San Diego State college track, Coach Sam Keith revealed today. Technically failing to qualify for the meet when he pulled up line and placed only fifth in the low hurdles last Friday during league finals at Huntington Beach, the Sophomore dash man will fill the spot Larry Kirchman qualified for in the 100 yard dash in the same meet; thereby allowing Kirchman to set his sights totally on the job of revenging his recent 440 defeat at the feet of Orange's Landon Carter and giving Peralta one more chance. KEITH WILL take four men southward with him Saturday, Kirchman, Peralta, Ira Webber (for the 880), and Dick Reed (for the mile). Webber placed second in league finals last week; Reed third. Five leagues will tangle on the San Diego State oval this Saturday, the Metropolitan, Southern Orange, Sunset and San Diego City. Peralta will, accordingly, take his first outing in the 100 against San Diego's Taylor, who has posted an impressive 9.8 this season. Field events begin at 12:30, track events begin at 1 p.m. Finalists from the meet move on to the semi-finals at Chaffey on May 10; then on to the Southern Section CIF championships at Huntington Beach on May 11. State championships will be decided on May 24 in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Both Harridge and Warren Giles, head of the National League sent wires in response to one dispatched by PCL Prexy Clarence Rolland. He had stated "rumors are afloat" that transfer of a major league franchise to "a city now a member of the Pacific Coast League" was being considered. Harridge replied: "There has been no discussion of any kind and so far as I know there is none on foot to transfer an American League club to a city now a member of the PCL." One of the 10 is Gift Silver, a mite of a horse owned by Odie Newell, en Ottumwa, Ia., quilroan engineer. Hill Gall's dam, Jane Gall, was brought to the court of Bull Lea, one of racing's outstanding stallions. The Calumet cannonball, winner of the Santa Anita Derby, will be ridden by Eddie Arcaro, the anion's top stake rider and winner of four Derbies. Willie Percz, a Louisville high school student with practically no experience, is to pilot Gift Silver. At last count the followingikes were planning on the trip: John and Mrs. O'Kane, Dap and Mrs. Pannier, Arch and Mrs. Henry, Dick and Mrs. Martin, Jim Rymer and President Clint Flynn. Exhibits are now being planned showing the chapter's activities and those of the county chapters. Delegates should put Anaheim on the map at the convention with our loud green shirts. We can expect some excellent reports from our delegates. Here and there: Arch Henry was the only local Ike caster to win a place at the Los Angeles Sportsman's show—second in the skish bait event. Ocean fishing has been as changeable as the weather and in the same proportion. A lot of barries have been taken, some white sea bass, and yellows at San Diego. Looks like a good season. Local streams will receive some trout stocking—Silverado, Santiago, Modjeska, San Juan, Trabuco. High Sierras still have plenty of snow and the weather between now and the opening will decide the accessibility and fishing. Crowley Lake is still a question mark at this writing—too much ice.
