Fashion in carpets is just as important as style in new spring suits. That is why the Smith-Reaf-snyder Furniture Company's carpet fashion opening is interesting news to Anaheom home-makers. Current issues of the leading home magazines are bright with pictures of the newest trends in carpeting.
Here is a chance to see the new designs first hand, to get an idea of the colors, and to actually feel the fabric. The carpet styles that the spring of 1952 has to offer are truly wonderful. Smith-Reaf-snyder maintains a decorating staff for free decorator and color harmony service which will, on request, take the guess work out of carpet purchases, and integrate the floor covering with the home.

Want broiling without smoke or spatter
That's an exclusive advantage of gas and the new automatic gas ranges—now at de
THERE'S no smoke...no greasy vapor to settle on painted walls or make eyes smart...when you broil meats in a new automatic gas range. The clean blue flame of gas consumes smoke and spatter. Melted fats are drained away below the rack and protected from the direct heat. Heavy insulation and closed broiler door keep the heat out of your kitchen. You can broil with gas and be comfortable on even a warm day.
The live flame of gas really broils, too. It sears your meat...seals in all juices and goodness...and imparts that wonderful char-type flavor you expect in meats by expert chefs. And you have no clear blues afterwards. Gas broilers wash as easily as your favorite pan.
If you would like to know all the extensive features of gas, see a gas range d or your Gas Company. You'll find that automatic gas ranges not only cook b and look better...they also cost less to and operate. Select your new automatic range now.

EASY AS PIE
"Easy as Pie" is a very misleading phrase for the making of a really good pie is never easy. If you doubt that, try one yourself, or think back over the number of bad or indifferent pies you have tasted in proportion to those of the super A-1 variety.
That is why, when Mrs. Adolf Schoepe sampled a superb piece of orange coconut cream pie at Fullerton's Masonic Temple one evening, she took special pains to seek out the baker. It turned out to be Mrs. Rosalie Williams, who has made quite a name for herself with her pie making.
When Mrs. Schoepe (an excellent cook herself) told us about the pie, we lost no time in teasing Mrs. Williams for her recipe. As she jotted it down, she modestly said, "I hope those who try it will like it."
Like it! Heavens to Betsey! If you've a mind to make it, better make two—it will disappear that fast.
ROSALIE WILLIAMS' ORANGE COCONUT CREAM PIE
1 cup milk
1 cup light cream
Scald milk and cream in the top of a double boiler. Combine flour, cornstarch, sugar and salt and cook until thick and creamy. This will take about 15 minutes. Stir constantly. When thick, pour over the beaten egg yolks and return to the double boiler to cook a minute longer. Cool and then add vanilla, orange juice and grated rind, and one-half cup of coconut. Pour into a baked 9 inch pie shell and top with meringue. As a final flourish, sprinkle the meringue with coconut and brown this beauty in the oven.
If you clip out the above recipe for your collection, as we hope you will, here is a companion piece to go with it—the lemon meringue pie that the Sunkist people have rated tops. It has genuine fresh lemon flavor and perfect consistency.
