For Results and Quick Anaheim Gazetteer by JOHN E. NEUBAUER WEATHERWISE — An April drizzle didn't dampen the enthusiasm of Santa Ana Valley Kennel club's third annual dog show at La Palma park. At least 1267 dogs were entered. NEWSWISE — County Clerk B. J. Smith must make special preparations for the June 3 primary election because of Orange county's population increase. Several cities in the county are planning special census to register growth of the last two years... Harvest of Orange county's million dollar strawberry crop is now under way, according to Roy Black, assistant agricultural commissioner. Last year 340 acres were harvested. This year's crop was hampered by an undue wet winter... Mystery surrounding the disappearance of Mr. and Mrs. Marc Bliss and their son, Richard, was unraveled somewhat by a report that they were in San Francisco. FJC Students Attend Confab In San Francisco To contribute their share of information on student problems, five members of the Fullerton Junior College Student Commission are attending the statewide semi-annual Student Government conference, held in San Francisco, this week. Fullerton representatives are Student Body President Phil Whitner, Fullerton; Don Padgett, editor of the Weekly Torch; Pinky Jones, Buena Park, social commissioner; Gale Connor, Placentia, president of the Associated Men Students, and Bob Pedigo, Buena Park, commissioner of rallies. With them went Miss Marguerite Waters and Dr. Robert E. Swenson, deans of women and men respectively. The group was scheduled to spend Wednesday evening (April 16) at Stanford university, visiting the campus. In San Francisco, they were to stay at the Fairmont hotel. Saturday night was to be spent at Asilomar, with return to Fullerton scheduled for Sunday. HIWAY HOLOCAUST — Mrs. Ethel Ballinger, 39, of La Habra, died of injuries sustained in an April 7 accident in which car driven by her husband Madison Ballinger, 42, went out of control and crashed into a freight lines truck driven by Howard Darlington. She was the 28th traffic fatality of the year. GOVERNMENT — Mayor Charles Pearson was installed as Anaheim's burgermeister for another two year term. He and Councilman Ray Van Wagoner were given a vote of confidence. Political fireworks flared as Hugh Warden was chosen as Fullerton's mayor. Following Warden's selection Jack Adams, a holdover councilman, resigned. Irwin Chapman, former mayor who was defeated at the polls two years ago, was appointed to fill Adams' unexpired term. Charles McCart was unanimously elected as Brea's mayor. William Hirstein is the new Orange mayor. Anton Wilson is again the chairman of the Placentia council. OIL—Although Anaheim's Industrial No. 1 may have proved to be a duster, the County Planning commission again recommended drilling be permitted in Costa Mesa industrial area. COURTOPIX — Julio Aparicio was returned to Orange county from San Quentin's death row. He had been sentenced to death for the murder of his friend Santana Acosta by Superior Judge Kenneth Morrison. The new trial was ordered by the State Supreme court... After nearly four months in jail on a murder charge, Gerald Bonebrake, 21-year-old Laguna service station attendant, was released on $1000 bail when he was acquitted of the murder charge but convicted of assault with a deadly weapon... Billie Gordon Smith, 25-year-old navy man, received straight probation for misdeameanor manslaughter in connection with a three-car traffic accident which caused the death of Charles Booster near the Seal Beach Net Depot... Six boys and three pin-up gals marked the arrivals: John Bruce, Al Herrera, Boberto Gomez, Grover Jones, Jr., Chester McCarl, and John Baxter were the fathers of the boys, while Joel Lawson, Jr., Gerald Bates, and Tom Donovan were the proud papas of the pin-up gals. SPORTSWISE — Anaheimers were anxiously watching the baseball careers of Bobby Adams who is currently hitting at a 300-better clip for Cincinnati Reds, Harold Gregg and Jack Salveson, the pitchers, who seem destined to have a good Coast League year... Anaheim's Larry Kirchman, Orange's Landon Carter and Huntington Beach's Big Bob Suess are set for the All-Sunset League track and field meet at Hunting-Beach Friday, Anahi Coach Sam Keith scratched Kirchman's entry in the rain-swept Chaffey invitational track-and-field meet which saw Don Vick of the Ontario school smash John Raitt's shotput mark with a 55-foot 11¼-inch heave.
