Legion Auxiliary Honors Post with Birthday Party for 32nd Year
A birthday dinner for the American Legion post, in honor of their 32nd anniversary, was hosted by the Auxiliary last night. Also feted at the party were past presidents of the Auxiliary.
Tables for the dinner meeting were decorated with vari-colored sweet peas.
Business was held to a minimum, with Elizabeth Neuman presiding. With her on the platform was Post Commander Phil Webb.
As each past president entered the room she received a camellia corsage from Peggy Boysen's garden. Honorees included Yuarda Akerman, first unit president; Florence Smith, Helen Betzold, Edna Elliott, Betty Liebhart, Vera Smith, Jean Gaddis, Marion Fennel, Phyllis Schroth, Peggy Boysen, Verna Hopkins, Jean Marvin, Harriet Boyd, Josephine Fulfer, Madge Holden, Lucille Johnson and Nadine Klapper.

Spanish Dinner For YWCA Board
The Women's Advisory committee of the YMCA honored the leaders of the girls Tri-Hi-Y clubs with a Spanish dinner held in the home of Mrs. Alice Schmid recently. The rooms were beautifully decorated with flowers and Mexican dolls on each table.
Guests of honor were Mrs. Nan Moore, girls' work director, Mrs. Steve Holden, Mrs. Orlo Fast, Miss Pat Brooks, Mrs. Don Chamberlin, Miss Barbara Trapp, Miss Patti Mattox, Mrs. Howard Hall, Mrs. Willard Weyand, Mrs. George Roulette, and Miss Lorraine Sehr.

Second offering of the season for talent for the Leo Carillo Du Ranch Varieties Show, will be held at the Anaheim Theater Thursday night, April 17. Fourteen acts vaudeville will be presented along with the feature picture at no advance in prices.

Varied Program For Ladies Night
Ladies' night highlighted a meeting of Cypress Magnolia farm center last night at Buena Park Women's clubhouse.
Mrs. Willis John, a war bride from Holland, told of her romance in that country with her GI husband. She described Holland for the group and told of her trip to this country and her impression of the United States. She was formerly a teacher in the Netherlands and is now a resident of Santa Ana. For her talk she was appropriately garbed in a Dutch costume with wooden shoes.
Mrs. Pauline Cole was in charge of the comedy skit, "School Days at Porcupine Junction." In the cast were teacher, Lawrence Hineman, and pupils Mrs. Vangella Rainey, Mrs. Elsa Goodwin, Mrs. Jean Walburg, Mrs. Jef Eaton, Mrs. Mary Hoskin, Glenn Hubbard, Mrs. Carl Korn, Bob Cole, Jeff Eaton and Clyde Hoskin.
Betty Jo Mittman, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Al Mittman, gave two accordion solos. Mrs. Jean Walburg presented a report on the County Farm Bureau director's meeting.
Bob Cole was in charge of the male serving committee. Mrs. Bertha Williams was chairman and Mrs. Ethel Moffit, secretary.

Ebell club of Anaheim will hold its annual rummage sale on Thursday and Friday, April 17 and 18, at 9:30 a.m. at 139 So. Los Angeles st. Mrs. Earl Spencer and Mrs. Joe Wagner are in charge of the sale.

His dancers and Ron Miller and Le Rumbaugh on the guitars are low acts which will compete against acts from other Orange counties Thursday night. Patricia Spencer and Ida Mae Truder tap-strut dancers; Orange; Tara Knapp, tap dancer, Santa Ana Denise Merritt, 10-year-old ballad singer, Santa Ana; Her Oviedo, torch singer, Los Amitos; Floyd Lewis, steel guitarist, Placentia; Millie Catherin Irvin, tap dance stylist from press will represent the county contingent of embryo television stars.
As an added attraction the producers have arranged the appearance of little three-year Charles Hale, singer accompany by his sister Joan on the play The Hale kiddies live in Fullerton. Charles is too young to ter the contest, but made a hit with the producers at the preliminary tryouts last week. Mellowettes, Hollywood trio, also be featured on the show.
Show time is approximately 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17. Acts will be preceded and followed by a screening of the feature picture. All seats 60c including four winners from the Anaheim try-outs have already appeared in the Leo Carillo television show Nolan Blackman appeared Saturday, April 6, and won first place Bettie Ulrich and Delores P Gary and Karen Thueson, along with Eddie and Clarence Baumpeared on the Carillo show Sunday night. The event is sponsored by the Retail Division of Chamber of Commerce.

Berry Festival
Set for Friday
An old fashioned "strawberry festival" will be sponsored by Crescendo class of White Temple Methodist church on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the church dining hall. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of a portable microphone for the church sanctuary.
Home made ice cream, shortcake, the season's first strawberries, hot coffee and tea will be served.
Entertainment will consist of musical interludes of old barbershop quartet numbers, using vocal solos and readings. Decorations are to be in a spring garden motif. Friends and members are invited to the affair, to be held in the church dining hall.

The annual report from the nominating committee was presented at the Anaheim Assistance League meeting held in the home of Mrs. Robert Powers. Assisting the hostess were Mrs. Charles Harbeson, Mrs. Lotus Loudon and Mrs. Duane Powers.

Family Reunion

The Harry P. Tabatt home at 19672 S. Chestnut st., Stanton, was the scene of a family reunion Sunday when their daughter, Bonnie, returned from Fresno where she had spent the week with former Stantonites, the Franklin Rubes.
She was accompanied by her husband, Jimmy Gillispie, who is temporarily based at the Navy hospital at Mare Island, while waiting a medical discharge as the result of an accident on the USS Rowan while on the way to Korea.

Mrs. Charles N. Brock was seated for her second term as president of the Centralia P-TA Monday afternoon, by Mrs. Ray Finley of Westminster, 1st vice president of the 4th District P-TA.
Mrs. Finley used the color ceremony and presented significant corsages as she installed Mrs. William Todd as vice-president; Mrs. Michael Border, secretary; Mrs. Edward H. Nagel, treasurer; Mrs. Emil Nelson, historian; Mrs. Cretia T. Thayer, parliamentarian.
Mrs. Finley used the topic, "Parents and Teachehs Work Together" when she addressed the group. Sheldon Disrud directed the Mozart chorus from AUHS.

Conclusion of what they have learned about "Stepping Stones in California History;" including Indian life, the coming of Sir Francis Drake and the Spanish to California, the mission trails, how Mexico lost California, the discovery of gold, how California became a state and concluded with singing "I Love You California" and enclosed with "California Here I Come." Hostesses for the tea were Mmes. Raymond A. Dillon, Daisy Boutcher and Frank Ferriera.
Announcements were made that a hot dog sale will take place Thursday noon. May 1 will be open house in honor of public school week. All children wishing to attend kindergarten next year will be registered during May. The last school day will be June 11.

The Red Cross Canteen, sponsored by the Savanna Civil Defense Unit, to establish headquarters in the Stanton Lions Community clubhouse, will start their first instruction class on April 29, from 9 to 12 a.m. The group will be instructed by Mrs. Louise Thomas of the Santa Ana office of the Southern Counties Gas Co., every Tuesday for five weeks.

Any woman interested may contact Mrs. Korn at 7741 B. Ball rd., or the Savanna personnel officer, Mrs. Florence Black at 7081 Brady st.
Royal C. Marten, Savanna civil defense co-ordinator, has appointed Mrs. Fern Vipond to offer assistance to school children who may need clothing or have other special problems requiring welfare assistance.
Marten is also arranging to store 25 cots in Stanton to be used for emergencies.
