3 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, APRIL 5, 1908 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Social and Club Activities Pat Terrebonne — 2206 Juniors Present Wrist Watch To Candidate Miss Nancy Groff was presented with a wrist watch by the Junior Women's club of Buena Park as a reward for their being able to sell more tickets to promote her as their candidate for queen of the Fullerton county fair, April 30 to May 4, than any of the other 11 clubs sponsoring candidates, according to Dick Crane, fair queen contest chairman. Part of the money raised from the junior club ticket sale will be given Buena Park children for their new youth center. April Program Planned by Washington P-TA Mrs. Ervin Mabs was hostess to George Washington P-TA board Wednesday morning when plans were made for the organization's next meeting which will be held April 23 at 2 p.m. in the school auditorium. Main business of the session will be installation of officers. Plans for a rag drive, to be held the week of May 23 to 29, were discussed. Mrs. Raymond Damerell, ways and means chairman will Fashion Show Is Success for YWCA Organization The Spring Fashion Show at the YMCA Tuesday evening, staged by the junior YQT club of the Tri-Hi-Y, was well attended by mothers and friends. New styles in practical play clothes, dresses in all the new materials, hats, jackets, purses and beautiful formalms were shown through the cqurfesy and assistance of Mrs. Martha Schumacher of the SQR store and Mrs. Jean Lande of Ballard's. The lovely models were members of the YQT club. The room was beautifully decorated by Jean Schultz and her committee. President, Shirley Pannier, welcomed the guests and Glenda Mungerson was narrator with Jan Larson playing soft music at the piano. Ramona Schley was general chairman of the fashion show, her committee heads being Jean Schultz, refreshments, Marion Caracausa, publicity, and Kay Turner, tickets. Concluding the program, Mrs. Nan Moore, girls work director, introduced Mrs. Don Chamberlin and Miss Barbara Trapp, the leaders of the YQT club who have helped the girls in all their activities. Punch and cookies were served during the social time that followed. The hall and dining room were decorated with spring flowers for the ceremony. Women were seated by Opal Walter, department senior vice president of California, and member of the local Auxiliary. The Cinderella Ball at the Ebell club last Saturday night was a big success with over 200 attending. It is the annual girl-date formal dance of the Tri-Hi-Y clubs sponsored by the Women's Advisory committee. The Ebell club was decorated in the Cinderella theme complete with a glass slipper on a satin pillow. Jean Jones of the senior club painted a panorama Cinderella, Prince Charming and the Fairy Godmother, which extended across one end of the large room. A huge glitter ball completed the decorations. Ernie Rojas and his orchestra from Coast College furnished the music. La Habra Home To Be Established By Local Couple Mrs. Jayne Swisher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Goode of Buena Park was married to John P. Hodgson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis O. Hodgson of Glendale, Ariz., who formerly lived in Fullerton. The bride's two sons, Michael and Kent, accompanied the couple to Las Vegas, March 3, and served as ring bearers at the ceremony. The couple will make their home at 1501 N. Cypress st., La Habra. CHERRY TOP PUDDING 1½ cups sifted enriched flour ½ cup beet or cane sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 egg ½ cup milk 3 tablespoons melted shortening 2 cups chopped sour red cherries ½ cup beet or cane sugar Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat egg, add milk and shortening. Add dry ingredients, mixing only to moisten flour. Pour into greased 8x8x2-inch pan. Mix cherries with remaining ½ cup sugar and spread over batter. Bake at 375 degrees 35 to 40 minutes. Serve with cherry sauce. Makes 16 2-inch squares. The honor will be accorded to four boys and four girls from Magnolia schools 1 and 2 and will be presented annually at graduation exercises.
