Zion Lutherans to Aid in Synod-Wide Drive for $10,000,000 Fund
Sixty-five members of Zion Lutheran church will take part Sunday afternoon in the "Conquest for Christ" being carried out by the Lutheran church—Missouri Synod throughout the United States and Canada. Approximately 100,000 workers will conduct the one-day campaign.
Nearly 400 workers will take part in the drive in Orange county. Special services of consecration are being held in most churches Sunday morning for the workers who will begin at 1:30 p.m. to canvass their fellow church members for pledges and donations.
Goal of the drive is a fund of $10,000,000, more than a third of which will go to domestic and foreign mission work. A new senior college is to be built with $2,750,-000 of the money and the synod's seminaries, teachers' colleges and 10 preparatory schools are to receive funds for a church-wide expansion program.
The drive was planned in a them in the morning worship. Assisting in the training was Walter Knigge, with Mrs. Paul Lohr in charge of clerical work.
Congregational committee members included A. J. Schutte, Mrs. Elton Sahr, Clarence Newkirk and Alvin Wenholz.
Members of the congregation have been requested to remain home Sunday afternoon until they are contacted by a worker.
St. Michael's Episcopal
The beautiful "Come Into Him" from Handel's "Messiah" will be sung by Mrs. Jack Spooner at the 11 a.m. service Sunday, March 23. Mrs. Spooner, professionally known as Megan Foster, whose husband, Rr. Adm. Spooner, was a cousin of Mrs. Jas. Kilduff, is visiting here from London, England, where she is well known on concert stage and with the BBC.
White Temple Methodist
Mrs. Elsie Grace Nichols of Redlands, whose inter-denominational prayer group has met weekly for years to pray for the sick, will be guest speaker at the seven o'clock evening service at White Temple Methodist church on Sunday night, telling the story of how her group began its work and of the amazing results achieved in cooperation with the best in medical care. This is the third in a series of Sunday night studies of the relationship of psychology and faith to healing.
Mrs. Nichols is the wife of the chairman of the Speech department at the University of Redlands, and is herself a prominent leader in the Baptist church. When she was stricken with deafness which proved to be incurable, she became interested in prayer and during her husband's sabbatical leave at Oxford university in England she spent much time in the Oxford library reading the results of research in the field of faith healing. Organizing a class upon her return for the study of these thoroughly scientific and documented works, she found her-

The drive was planned in a synodical convention after reports showed that church membership is gaining in greater proportion than pastors and teachers can be trained with present facilities.
The Rev. E. H. Pflug, pastor of Zion Lutheran church, will follow the theme of the canvass in his sermon topic at 11 a.m. divine worship Sunday. "The Victory Which Overcometh the World—Faith," will be his topic. Pastor Pflug had conducted two training sessions for the 65 members of his congregation and will commission

Whether or not we say it, we do it!
But in planning a house what sort of a bedroom is wanted? Large, small, fancy, or simple? It's all a matter of individual taste; however you plan a bedroom, be sure it is planned.
Perhaps you prefer a large sized bedroom usable as a semi-living room or sewing room by day; or, you may wish to have a room designed especially and only for sleeping, with an adjoining dressing room; or, halfway between the two extremes, you may think that the most suitable for your purpose is a medium sized bedroom which is a sleeping room and dressing room.
Whichever you choose will naturally depend on the other room which you have planned for your home.
Regardless of day time use, however, a bedroom, for sleeping purposes, should have two special characteristics; first, it should keep light out, and let air in.

The benefits are fairly clear in the clean-up phase—getting rid of a winter's accumulation of rubbish—obvious fire hazards eliminated. Then when you up, you not only extend the ability and life of the house preventing rot, but you decrease the value of the banker will tell you good paint job can boost your praisal by more than the job. And when you fix up the old give yourself and your more livability out of the house and a lot more enjoyment you get with rickety cellar overflowing eaves-trough windows and doors that stick.
WE RAKED the yard times last fall and now do it again. But that's the goes. Where all the soggy and sticks and general rots come from is not always a terry. The other day the collector came by with an truck. A plustery wind blew papers all over the neighborhood. There's no use worrying about lawn or garden until this issue ed up.

The Lesson - Sermon includes these words of Jesus from Matthew (6:31, 33): "Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
On this subject Mary Baker Edy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "If we follow the command of our Master, Take no thought for your life,' we shall never depend on bodily conditions, structure, or economy, but we shall be masters of the body, dictate its terms, and form and control it with Truth" (p. 228).

Here comes the spring clean-up, rent-up, fix-up season.
You can't say "So what," because it is going to yank more householders out of their easy days this year than ever before. The main reason is all the continuing talk about further curtailment of new home building. The fire difficult it may become to a new house, the more important it is to take care of your home. If you haven't already decided, you've certainly heard a neighbor say, "I could get a nice fit by selling my house now. I wouldn't be any better off. Have to pay as much to get other house like it. So I might well fix It up."
A nice thing about this spring clean-up idea is its sociability. aren't the only one with these ties to do. You'll see all your neighbors getting busy, so you'll feel sorry for yourself. But best way to look at it is to sidereal how it is going to benevolate you.
in spring winds and offer a sinister invitation to fire as soon as a neighbor's grass-burning gets out of control. The National Board of Fire Underwriters says grass fires and brush burning rank among the leading causes of home fires, especially in outlying rural locations.
The fact that fire insurance companies don't want your house to burn down, because it will cost them money, doesn't mean that you can risk a fire. Therefore, some of their suggestions, based on very sad experiences, can be a big help.
FOR THE SPRING clean-up season, the underwriters recommend that you start with the basement where one-third of all home fires begin. People who have new houses with no basements know very well that the habit of storing that broken chair, an assortment of old magazines and cardboard cartons is not necessary or prudent after all.
Garden Club To Hold Forum
The Organic Gardening club of Orange county will hold an open forum Monday night at 7:45 p.m. at their regular meeting to be held at the Seventh Day Adventist auditorium, 1214 N. Broadway, Santa Ana. Questions from the audience and answers from the panel will be the order of the evening and members are invited to prepare their problems in writing form so they can be answered.
The panel will be comprised of Cliff Jones, DelMar; Ralph Dickenson, Anaheim and Gene Benbau, also of Anaheim. The above will initiate the program with a discussion entitled, "The Living Soil," which will be followed by a question and answer period with President George Krause acting as moderator, according to Arnold J. Turner, program chairman.
This will be an excellent time for organic enthusiasts to follow-up on the talk given by Dr. E. E. Pfeiffer at the last meeting. New members are solicited and the general public is invited to attend. There is no admission charge, and a good crowd is anticipated.
