Fullerton junior college's student delegation to the Model United Nations Conference in April has been assigned the role of New Zealand, it was announced this week. Notice of the assignment was received from Eli Brepman, conference registrar, according to FJC International Relations Club president, Vladimir Almer dinger.
The Model United Nations will be held on the University of Southern California campus April 3-5. It will be organized in a close as possible replica of the actual United Nations organization.
Three trophies will be awarded to the college delegations most aptly playing their roles on a diplomatic corps.
"New Zealand is a member of the trusteeship committee of UN," explained Ronald Thaheld (Brea) chairman of the FJC delegation. "This gives us an opportunity to act our role well. Each member of our delegation has been assigned a specific international problem to study so that we will be prepared for the final mock diplomatic showdown at the conference."
From FJC the following students will go: Thaheld, Almendenger, Mary Chitwood (Fullerton), Charles Graham (Placentia), Charles Lusin (Anaheim), John Kountz (La Mirada), Marjorie Wallace (Fullerton), Lucille Wright (Fullerton), and Rod Hall (Anaheim).

A BUSY MAN THESE DAYS—Gen. Dwight Eisenhower follows a busy weekend of conferences with a visit from former ECA chief Hoffman (left) and John J. Ike Mum on Hoffman’s Plea For Return to United States
PARIS (UP)—Paul Hoffman said today he told Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower “it would make it a great deal easier” for his political supporters if he would come home. He told reporters he got no answer.
Hoffman, one of the general’s chief supporters for the presidency, said he told the supreme Allied commander of concern in the United States that his nomination might be “put in jeopardy” if he does not return before the Republican convention in July.
He said, after a series of conferences with Eisenhower over the weekend, that he knew as little about Eisenhower’s plans in this respect as he did before he got here.
Hoffman, former chief of the Economic Cooperation administration and now chairman of the philanthropic Ford Foundation, said he personally did not share the concern of the general’s backers, but that he felt it his duty to acquaint Eisenhower with it.
Hoffman said the meeting was spent chiefly in listening to the general talk about the North Atlantic Treaty organization and European defense.
WASHINGTON (UP)—The Senate Foreign Relations committee today put off a decision on whether to ask Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower to fly home and testify on the $7,900,000,000 foreign aid bill.
After an hour’s committee discussion behind closed doors, Chairman Connally (D-Tex) announced it had been decided to delay action on a motion by Senator McMahon (D-Conn) to request testimony from Eisenhower.
Connally refused to say whether the committee took any formal vote.
However, Senator Tobey (R-NH)) told an A.P. reporter that a 7 to 5 vote rejected a motion by Senator Wiley (R-Wis) that the committee “invite” Eisenhower to testify but leave the final decision to him. Wiley’s motion was offered as a substitute for McMahon’s motion that the committee “summon” Eisenhower.
Local Philatelist Asks Organization Of Stamp Society
E. Clarke Bertsch, local stamp collector and philatelic authority, cordially invites the interested public to a showing of stamps from his extensive collection; and the organizational meeting of the Anaheim Philatelic Society. The meeting will be held today, 7:30 p.m., in the recreation room at City hall.
Bertsch says that philately has been called the “Hobby of Kings” for many kings, rulers, and presidents claim stamp collection as their hobby; “It is truly the Hobby of Kings and the King of Hobbys,” he said.
Much research and art is employed in choosing the design, and making the drawings of each stamp, Bertsch explained. When finally all of this work has been approved, the making of the dies necessary for the actual printing is begun. Even the little teeth surrounding the stamp, perforation, have quite an interesting story. To the philatelist, their differences are a* valuable help in properly identifying a stamp. Among the most interesting phases of stamp collecting is the study of colors used in the stamps.
