Eisenhower's New Hampshire victory may make it easier for some Republican leaders to abandon their fence positions and make up their minds. It will make it more difficult for Taft's forces to recruit them. The Democratic developments from Kefauver's victory over Truman could shake the president's hold on the party machinery. Emmet J. Kelley, the state's Democratic National committee man, staked his own political future and that of his organization on the president and lost.
