Anaheim Gazette MONDAY, MARCH 5, 1952 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Social and Club Activities Pat Terrebonne — Z206 Telephone Company Employees to Hold Second Party for Hospitalized Vets Plans to entertain patients in various service hospitals were continued this week by members of Orange County Telephone unit when they made arrangements to visit Long Beach hospital with a St. Patrick's Day party. Chairman is Irene Brown of Anaheim who will be assisted by Helen Edgar, also of Anaheim, as vice chairman. Others in charge of arrangements are Mary Tucker and Virginia Davis, Santa Ana, Lois States. Orange; Eula Baker, Harbor office; Beverly White, Beacon office and Ann Wright, Capistrano. A varied program, featuring a can-can dance, refreshments and games will be presented. St. Patrick theme will be used in decorating. Leap Year Party Sponsored by Stanton Group The Stanton Lady Lions entertained 60 Lions and friends at a Leap Year card party Friday night in their clubhouse. Prizes were hand painted ties and organdy aprons made by the hostesses: Mrs. Dorothy Kitchens; chairman, and Mrs. Florence Muraka, Mrs. Callie Pruett and Mrs. Pearl Rube. Refreshments were home made plies and coffee. Birthday Party In Anaheim Home Mrs. Leonard E. Wettstein entertained in honor of the seventh birthday of her son, Floyd, Saturday afternoon, at their home Elks Entertain Cub Pack 105 Cub Pack 102, sponsored by the local Elks lodge, held its regular monthly meeting, together with the annual Birthday party last Friday night at the lodge rooms. An unexpected pleasure was a short talk by the Grand Exalted Ruler, Carroll H. Christle, who was introduced by Al Raymond, the Elks representative on the Cub executive board. Mr. Christle mentioned in his talk that the Elks were proud and glad to be the sponsors of the Pack 102. Thomas Tatlock and Arthur Godoy were Inducted into the Bobcat ranks of Cubbing. Their mother and brother pinned the pins on their new uniforms. A very interesting and entertain skit was put on by the Cubs in Mrs. Hilda Squires' den. Those announcement was made of the State convention to be held in San Francisco on April 16-18. District P-TA meeting will be held at Orange and will feature a talk, "Education is Our Business." Birthday Party In Anaheim Home Mrs. Leonard E. Wettstein entertained in honor of the seventh birthday of her son, Floyd, Saturday afternoon, at their home, 7042 E. Cerritos ave. Mrs. Floyd Newkirk of 7162 E. Monroe assisted her daughter organizing games and serving refreshments of two birthday cakes and ice cream. Guests were Carol Tout, Pauline Mary Black, Ruth, Ben Paul and Sammy Pruett, Patricia, Susie and Donnie Youts, Dickie Karraker, Anthony and Tommy Baroldi, Clark Binns and Peter Baldassarre of Stanton; Larry Edwards of Cypress and Ronnie and Gary Isaac of Santa Ana. ART INSPIRED — Bejewelled collure designed by stylist Jean Clement in Paris was inspired by masterpieces of Etruscan art which antedate those of ancient Rome. Thomas Tatlock and Arthur Godoy were Inducted into the Bobcat ranks of Cubbing. Their mother and brother pinned the pins on their new uniforms. A very interesting and entertain skit was put on by the Cubs in Mrs. Hilda Squires' den. Those taking part were Salvadore Herrera, Steve Squires, Charles Tingley, Billy Hinman, Billy Ballman, Biff Copeland, Sammy Barker and Leo Leonard. Al Raymond gave a talk on the Scout movement since its inception some 42 years ago this past February. Mr. Raymond mentioned some interesting topics of the Boy and Cub Scout movement. Raymond and Robert Martinez, George Lepper, David Geske, William Fortig and Steve Miller received their Wolf badges; the first three boys gold arrow points. Bear badges were awarded to Allen Voight, Tommy Ulrich and Leo Leonard, also gold and silver arrow points. Donald Kliiss, Lion badge, Denner Stripe; Tommy Kersten, Lion badge and Assistant Denner Stripe and silver arrow point. Gold arrow points went to Jimmy Swenson, Steve Squires and Corky Rogers. Corky also received a silver arrow point. Jerry Horton, Freddie Ramm, Bob and Dick Jeter, and Billy Hinman, Silver arrow points. Hinman, Assistant Denner Stripes also. Denney Stripes to Tommy Raymond and Jim Miller. Mrs. Phyllis Hinman led the group in several songs. The food committee served two huge birthday cakes, coffee and orange juice to all present. The next committee meeting will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Carl Robertson, N. Janss st. The date will be announced by Chairman Vernon C. Starr. P-TA Council Sets Coming Meetings Anaheim P-TA council met at the home of Mrs. William Rickel to discuss events planned for the coming months. Announcement was made of the State convention to be held in San Francisco on April 16-18. District P-TA meeting will be held at Orange and will feature a talk, "Education is Our Business." It was announced that publicity books are due to Mrs. Conan Gray, district public relations chairman, by March 10. Local schools will conduct a dental survey on April 16. Mrs. J. Mason reported that the Mothersingers date has been changed to the first monday of the month at Washington school and the third Monday at Cypress. Mrs. A. E. Bourne was appointed by the nominating committee as representative from Anaheim schools. On March 10, at Orange YMCA, a dinner will be given for Orange County Council of Community Agencies with Tom Douglas of Orange County Social Welfare department as speaker. His topic will be "Trends In Public Welfare."
