Christian Science
The mission of Jesus and its influence in the world today will be considered Sunday in the Lesson Sermon on "Christ Jesus" in all Christian Science churches.
A Bible Lesson selection from I John (4:914) reads, "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him... And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world."
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy says, "It is the living Christ, the practical Truth, which makes Jesus 'the resurrection and the life' to all who follow him in deed." "His consummate example was for the salvation of us all, but only through doing the works which he did and taught others to do." (pp. 31, 51).
Isaiah supplies the Golden Text: "There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots" (11:1).
Three special Christian Science programs may be heard in a series entitled Faith in Action over KFI at 6:45 a.m., Sunday mornings, March 2, March 9, and March 16. The speaker will be Oliver Hinsdell. Kenny Baker and Mary Dean will be featured as soloists, with Eugene Alders at the organ.

"The Quiet One," a 67-minute feature motion picture that critics are heralding as the finest documentary film of our time dealing with the problem of an unwanted child's search for love and affection, will be shown at the regular 7 o'clock Sunday night service at White Temple Methodist church. It features Donald Thompson, young Negro "find" of the screen, who plays the part of an only child and the victim of a disrupted home in New York's Harlem. Abandoned to live with an unsympathetic grandmother, he grows up starved for affection, and becomes a sullen, warped personality, who finally becomes a delinquent. At the age of 10 he is sent to a correctional school, and the problems he faces of adjustment, of jealousy, and of escapism make vivid the mental turmoil in the lives of thousands of emotionally disturbed boys and girls. Bosley Crowther, New York Times critic, calls it "A genuine masterpiece of documentary drama."
