ANAHEIM MEMORIES a year ago today was March 1 when Anaheimers read about the First Marines taking rigengsong in Korea. That was when the wank-out of 3600 employees halted Greyhound bus operations. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Daniel learned that their son, Cpl. Raymond Daniel 21, had been wounded in Korea reb. 5. Chilling cold, followed a rain and hail storm. Red Hoach and Bob Jones were recovering from having become papas. Lucy Began Micheini died in the 89th year of her life. She lived in California 60 years of which 25 were spent in Anaheim. George Keitel, 88, and Frank Parrott, 73, also passed on this time last year. In a 26-page report the County Grand Jury urged a crackdown on drunken drivers. The Wycliff Bible Translators, Inc., announced that they planned to build their headquarters on a 40-acre tract in Costa Mesa. George Comeau was sentenced to a year in the county jail on a felony drunk driving charge that grew out of an accident at Lincoln and Manchester sending a carload of Marines to the hos-

JOB—Stan Jones has a job with more responsibility. When he left the Gazette this week it was for an important assignment given him by the Draft Board. During the short time he was in charge of the Gazette sports page, Stan Jones made a lot of friends both for himself and his readers. Now, that he is embarking on a greater adventure than newspapering, we wish him Godspeed. He—and the youth of America—

Hack Views Big Ball Hawk at Fullerton Camp
FULLERTON—The rip and determination of flyhawk Grant Dunlap has impressed everyone at the Los Angeles camp. The former College of the Pacific athlete, who hit above .500 four straight years in the Southeastern and Texas leagues, is determined to win a regular berth with Stan Hack's Angeles.
The 6 foot, 3 inch rookie hits a long ball and is versatile, being available for infield duty. He reported with the batterymon, five days ahead of the infielders and outfielders, and has been going all out so as to be ready for his challenge for a regular job.
Dunlap, 27, is a former Marine.

NUGGETS — Jack Dutton, the Anaheim who parlayed a lot of rags to riches, is the latest candidate for the Fullerton City Council. And, yknow, the fellow who was Anahi student body prexy back in 1928 would make a mighty fine councilman. ... Lloyd Verry, former district attorney's aides, and Elmer Guy are running for the job. Both men are well known in Northern Orange county, having been prominent in civic and fraternal organizations. Another Anaheimer with a pull is Ed Southfield. He's a dairyman... One of the nicest guys you could hope to meet anywhere is the president of Brea's Chishan Co-W. Edgar Spear. He is a financial wizard but hasn't lost the common touch... The United Auto Workers, CIO, aren't wasting any time in trying to one up the overthrop Analeim workers—optical workers at that!
